I've got a family heirloom .41 Army Special S/N 315*** and I can't seem to find any online services that can tell me when it was made. I do know that the last patent date stamped on the barrel is July 4, 1905. Any help would be appreciated.

I believe Colt can help you but hold on to your wallet as the cost is $100 dollars I think. If you belong to the NRA they might be able to help as well at no cost

Colt .41 Army Special, serial number 315,xxx was made in 1909 (2nd year of production). The serial number carried on from an earlier model that started at #1 in 1892.
