You can get the grips from there in rosewood or walnut and they have both standard and slimline grips, that can be ordered for normal or ambidextrious safety.
I really like Ahrends grips - here's a picture of them on a Colt 1911 that I sold off.
I picked mine up through Top Gun Supply. I wanted a replica-look, and the great people at Top Gun worked with Ahrends to get the specific wood color I was looking for. The grips themselves have a nice feel, and are slightly thicker than you might be used to.
I bought the basic double-diamond checkered cocobolo grips for my G.I. from www.woodgrips.com. Very well made, look and feel great, and fit the pistol like a glove. Good service, quick delivery, and inexpensive, as well. Be sure to get a hollow ground screwdriver of the appropriate size for installation, however. I got this one from www.brownells.com, a useful thing to have.
Thanks guys. I have decided to go with the Chip McCormick grips that Brownell carries. They are 40% slimmer and can be used with an ambidextrous safety, which will be handy if I decide to conceal carry the gun or if for some reason I decide to put an ambidextrous safety on it.
