Maybe in time for New years Day but the rifle/shotgun combo you are asking about is probably the Savage Model 24 in various submodels, calibers and gauges.

Did you ever find it?

I use to have one, made by Stevens I think, but it was 22Mag and 20 gauge. Great Turkey gun.

I've had one for years. Mine is a Savage, mod 24 in .22/410. Wish I knew how many rounds have been put through that little gun! If you can find one, my bet is he will like it...and not long after you try it, you'll be looking for another (for yourself!).

Mark.

As a kid growing up In WV, my uncle had a Savage 22mag/410 that I loved to borrow every chance I got around squirrel season. When I grew up I always like the idea of a 22/410 combo and started looking for a Savage like the one my uncle had. When I came across the Srpingfield M6 at a gunstore here in Idaho, I thought it was so neat and had to have it. I bought that gun brand new in 1997 for $149.00 and I have not regretted it since! I would guess that I have over 10,000 rounds through the .22LR and about 500 through the .410 barrel. I can't count the number of ground squirrels and other pests that have fell to that rifle. About 2 years ago the firing mechanism broke and I sent it back to Springfield (even though the rifle is no longer produced) and they fixed it free of charge. Since then I have refinished it a camo pattern and it continues to be my "go-everywhere" gun. If you can find one of them, buy it.

savage still currently makes one, remmy imports one , and springfield still makes the skeletonized/metal m6 survival rifle. Also they do it with a 22 hornet up top, a super m6.

.22lr / .410

Are you looking for something like this? It is an M6 Scout and is a clean straight shooter. The .410 barrel shoots 3" slugs or shot shells and the stock has a flip up cover that conceals about 10 .22LR shells and 4 .410 shells.

I understand it was originally issued as a survival rifle in the cockpit of military aircraft.
