I am working out of town in Durham, NC. I am looking for a range to shoot at in the evening. I am staying near Capel Hill and have been told about a nice indoor range in Raleigh, but they close at 7:00 pm. I am only here during the week. Can any one help me out.
Thanks

There's a nice indoor rifle/pistol range (50-100 yard ranges) in Apex, but you have to take an orientation class to shoot there. Class is ~2 hours and costs $15, but they give you (and the person who referred you) a free hour on the range. Google Wake County FETC for the website and orientation schedule.

There are a couple of places around Raleigh.

I have a web page that has the ranges I've found around Raleigh. Look under "Local" on the web page.

I shoot mostly at the Wake County Range in Apex, I have a friend who shoots at Sir Walter, and I am thinking of joining the Durham County Wildlife Club.

The Wake County Range is very nice - includes 100 m indoor range. It's administered by the guys from Sir Walter.

http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=72008&highlight=raleigh KMKeller started this thread about your area, may want to stop in there...

Also, if you go to ar15.com and go to the 'hometown' forum, there's a carolinas forum in there for NC/SC shooters, you may find some people and info in there...

I used to live there, but it was before I started shooting a lot, I'm down near Charlotte now... good luck

Wake county range is nice, but I have an extreme dislike of the staff there.

PDHSC is an excellent indoor pistol range. This is where I go.

Wow! We must have had a very different set of experiences there. I find the staff pretty amiable. They're mostly members of Sir Walter Gun Club - a number of retirees. They seem pretty laid back to me.

To each his own, I guess.

PDHSC is where I buy - they have really good prices there. I shot there several years ago, but never really went back. Mostly because it's not that much farther to go to the Wake County range for me (I live in North Raleigh), and I never have to wait at the Wake County range. When I have gone to Davi's or PDHSC, I've had to wait.
