I buy from a guy called Caanis Lupus. :) lol

old friend of mine who was, and still is, thinning out his herd and seemingly making mine grow! :what:

otherwise its at gunshows.

Varies -- some from local gunshops, some from Internet sellers (Bud's), and some from my FFL dealer. Never bought any guns from a big box retailer.

Well since Smith put that lock on I haven't bought anything new. So I guess I don't buy my guns, I have my guns.

Well, there's this nice guy in my little town who sells fun things out of his trunk ;). He's nice because he doesn't ask any stupid or silly questions, such as "What do you need this for?" or "Do you have a license?" ;) :D.

I guess that I am lucky - there is a local gunshop with prices at/below the Internet prices I have been able to find.

For example, I got an Armalite AR-24 15 round adjustable site model for $500.95 out the door - that's including sales tax and all fees. Poking around on a couple of Internet sites, I didn't find any price that touched that.

For example, Bud's Gun Shop is highly recommended, but they had the gun for $509.95 "delivered". I assume that "delivered" means "includes shipping", but my guess is that it does not include FFL fees, etc. Around here, I haven't found FFLs who are willing to do the transfer for less than $25 - $35.

So buying locally saved me a total of $35 - $45.

The service was also great - ordered it on Monday, and it came in on Tuesday. It's odd becomes sometimes the staff is friendly, and sometimes they are not. When I bought this one, they weren't very friend (but my 13 daughter had died a purple patch on my hair the night before I picked up the gun - don't ask :) ). But the service and prices are uniformly very good.

I guess that I am pretty lucky to have a shop like that pretty close.

Most of them come from two different local gunshops. And a few over the internet.

I've bought standard times like Glocks or SW snubbies at the gun show as they have better prices than most stores.

However, I've bought my last three guns from a local store as they had one not usually seen at the shows for a decent price and I wanted some mods done on it, one older Colt revolver at a good price (probably because of the sad but popular getting a divorce sale) and another that was a touch more than a show but it had't it the shows yet. The ten bucks were worth it.

Being a good customer paid off - I got some night sights installed for free and some good tips on how to save on ammo.

If you have a good store, I prefer it but some stores are nasty.

I try to support my local gun shops when I can. I'll pay a little more, but if I have a problem I know they'll be there. Plus, I've noticed the more business you do with a shop, the better the deals seem to get.

In my experience, the cheapest guns are ALWAYS at private gun shops. So thats where ive bought every single one of my firearms.

Let's hear it for the Mom & Pop (local) shops. The used counter has a higher margin of profit, usually. The markup on new guns is not much? Er, back me up dealers out there...

My favorite gunshop is Keiths Guns in Gresham, its a local store but with the size of inventory and the number of guns they sell they operate more like a retail place, with the exception they are normally pretty knowledgeable.

I know my RSO hates them because they undercut prices a lot but thats the way business works.

Been buying from a good friend who has a gun shop for the last few years... He's closing down the shop in the near future. I guess I wasn't buying enough guns to pay the rent. :( A retail gun shop seems to be a tough business to off the ground.

There's another local store I will probably start supporting shortly. I'd imagine that I won't get nearly as good a deal as I'm used to, at least for for a while. Oh well, it was great while it lasted.
