On my hip in its holster. I don't have a dedicated "truck gun". I will grab my lever action from time to time to ride shotgun with me.
With a stick, I always parked it in a gear for the direction I was going. I never used the Ebrake unless I was leaving the car running, in which case it was locked. I have an extra keyring that has all of my keys on it, and another set of car keys separate.I know it probably took me longer to put the car in first, drop the e-brake while pumping the clutch and gas, and getting out, than it would have to draw a firearm...
This is an interesting discussion because I have not found the perfect spot for my cars yet. I am debating doing like FAS did above as I like his safes for my house. but they won't work well for my mustang.
So far the glove box is the only spot on the stang. The side door panel is not easily accessible and visible to the outside and company rules say the gun cannot be visible outside if I want to park it in the company lot.
So I am still stuck with the glovebox but I am still looking for a better place.
I generally keep mine on my hip as I'm not a fan of a dedicated "car gun". On longer cross country trips I'll often remove it from my belt and tuck it into the center console of my SUV for comfort, but as soon as I stop its back on the belt.Ok guys let's say you live in a area where it is legal to carry a gun in your car. So I ask you if you do carry in the car where do you keep it glove box, console, other. I like to keep mine in the glove box for now.
