Where do you put your ammo?

I was thinking of upgrading to .30 and .50 cal ammo cans. But after thesolidus suggested a cooler, I'll probably do that. Very mobile (exactly what I'm looking for) and inconspicuous.
Nice.

I'll just have to figure out a way to organize the space.

Kept my ammo in my safe, with my guns...but seems I had the same problem as Fundberg... and now all of it is in a lake, a very deep lake..

i keep as much ammo as i can in my guns..... but i also have ammo in 6 .50 cal ammo boxes in my gun safe. damdest thing is numbers dwindling down. seems all my guns are reacting to the range, when they get on that line they sneeze lead.. hmmm

I prefer to store most of mine as components: Brass and primers in five gallon buckets, not much powder on hand, and bullets are in the wall of a DNR gravel pit.... :)

The few live rounds I have left after the tragic boating accident are stored on shelves in my walk-in vault, err, I mean closet. Yeah, "sturdy closet", that's the ticket!

:D

I use American milsurp ammo cans, usually the smaller ones so they aren't too heavy to carry easily. I always check the rubber seal to be sure it isn't cracked or broken before buying a can and I check them periodically at home too. I keep the cans in a heated and air conditioned room with a few silica gel bags inside them just to make sure no moisture gets to the rounds. Don't have a safe big enough to hold them all just now, but one of these days...

I keep it in a locking(not that it would not take 2 seconds to break open) metal cabinet between the 2 safes I have in the garage.

I use 30 caliber cans. I've found 50 cal cans when full are too heavy to move easily. Thirty cal cans are much easier to move around, stuff back under a shelf, etc. Just make sure the lid gasket's in good shape and throw in a desiccant pack. Stored this way, if I don't get around to shooting it, I imagine my kids will.
