What the heck is going on? For weeks I have been looking for small and large pistol primers. Everybody is out of stock!!!! Did the entire world just stop making primers???

I have powder, brass, bullets but no primers!! Its wierd to say the least! Does anybody know where I can buy pistol primers? By the way...my Dillon XL750 is pretty freking awesome! So glad I bought it!

Really??? You had to start a new thread about primers? Have you not looked at all the other threads on here and every reloading forum about the very same thing?

Oh, they are making primers as fast as they can.

However between the pandemic, the riots and the upcoming presidential election - well, they don't stay on the shelves very long. Just like toilet paper from a couple months ago...

But then, you already knew that???

Between 2:27 & 2:57 AM CDT on 8/6 I happened to be awake and aware and went to the Bass Pro Shop website to check for primers. It just happened to have various primers readily available, I chose ship-to-store with zero HazMat or shipping costs as I've been doing with such items recently. For some there were limits on how many I could place in each virtual shopping cart and I had to use trial and error, and eventually placed multiple orders of 5 packages of 100 primers each or less in each order.

It's these extraordinary times that have made me thankful to be living near a Bass Pro Shop or Cabela's since the 'oughts. I've also more or less randomly found such items available in store there going upstairs to browse during the time between I check in at the online orders pickup area and someone actually locates my online order goods "in the back" somewhere as the cashiers describe it and my online order goods are honestly available for me to actually receive and leave. I found about 20 1 pound containers of Hodgdon H110 all same lot number sitting not on any store shelf but on top of some unstaffed counter that was made to look ike half a tree stump this week, two of those went home with me. Plus, their website has at times claimed some such things to be in stock in store without any store employee being able to actually produce (a 1 pound container of Hodgdon H4831 in my recent experience), so don't accept what their website may or may not show being actually available in a particular store to be 100% accurate. Everything I've been able to fully execute an online order for free in store pickup has arrived within 10 days or less for me to be able to physically take home. ATM the Bass Pro Shop website no longer shows any Small Pistol or Small Pistol Magnum primers available for shipping whether to a home address or for free ship-to-store pickup.

I've also found some primers and powder through the Academy Sports and Outdoors website, using the "Change Store" function multiple times while viewing the same item. Their system is much more accurate IME however there's some sort of gitsch where that tool will only display "1 of 1 items available for pickup" at a different store no matter how many more than 1 such item 8s actually physically available at the different store. Plus, one store I found locally had removed all remaining primers from the tagged store shelf locations and placed them in a locked display case currently empty of firearms. It took three store employees to actually locate them stored that way, including the employee behind those ranks of locked cases, when I kept showing them their website insisted they were physically present. I don't exactly hold that against them especially the employee behind the locked cases as that employee "normally" doesn't deal with any reloading supplies. Communication between whichever manager(s) who moved them into the locked display case was ineffective if not nonexistent and there was no sign at the normal stock shelf location directing anyone to the locked display case area.

As with everything YMMV.
