On a little thread that I instigated about entry-level over-unders, a member
thoughtfully posted some links for my edification. One was for the Turkish Yildiz line, with decent pictures and metric:confused: spec charting. Being the manufacturer site, no prices, not even MSRP. I read elsewhere that these seem to be nice guns and lighter than IZH/spartans.
Apparently Academy Sports is the sole importer/dealer, but their website only shows a generic selection of commodity type long guns, and the search function don't know nothin' bout no Yildiz. Do they still carry them? I live in MD and it looks like the closest store is in Tennessee. Not conducive to hands-on shopping. Is it possible that anyone knows of a stocking dealer here in MD or in DE or VA? I've Googled and hunted all night, and I'm getting punchy and the alarm goes off at 5 am, and I'm wondering how much more obscure this mystery gun can be. Knowing me, I'm missing something blindingly obvious. Incoherently yours- Pork Fat

I don't know how many of your questions I can answer, but I'll tell you what I know. You have most of your facts right. It is a Turkish gun, being solely imported by Academy Sports. I live in Texas, and they're all over the place here and all of them carry the Yildiz. They aren't on their website, but there are four stores here in Austin and all of them had at least 3 in stock of both 12 and 20 gauge.

I bought one of their O/U's last week new, $386 regular price, in 12 guage. You're right about it being lighter and better finished than the IZH/Spartan line. There is no comparison. I will post some pics when I can. I have not had a chance to shoot it yet, but I can't wait to get it out and bust some clays.

Briley out of Houston warranties the gun and makes chokes for it. There's a 3 yr warranty. It comes with 5 chokes: Skt, Imp Cyl, Mod, IM, and Full. I picked up extra Skt and Imp Cyl chokes so I could shoot Skt/Skt or IC/IC if I want. Academy also sells the chokes, again manufactured by Briley.

There is a big following of the Yildiz over on Shotgun World, here's the link:

If you can find a way to get one shipped to your local FFL, I think you'll be pleased. Good luck.

Which version does Academy have?

I found Yildiz' website, and what I see, I like, especially for a "disposable" price (for a double gun, anyway).
