The excellent Ruger SP101 in .32 Mag with 3" barrel is my favorite .32M and can be bought just about anywhere online or at your local gun store. So there is no point in posting where to buy those. Ruger also makes a 4" barrel version. The 3" is fairly easy to conceal with a holster. The 4" has more velocity and power with less recoil.

The Taurus .32M snubby 2" can be purchased at

It can probably be purchased from other places too, but I don't know where.

The S&W .32M 2" barrel jobs are discontinued, but still available NIB at this time at various places.

Apparently Charter Arms is going to come out with a .32M Bulldog with a 2" and 4" barrel. I don't know where to buy those because they're not yet being made. Soon though.

Personally, I think the 2" barrel versions (in any brand) have to much recoil and too little power. The 4" are powerful, but hard to conceal. That's why I prefer the 3" Ruger SP101 as a compromise.

If you buy a gun with 2" or a 3" barrel, you'd be well advised to use snubby ammo optimized for those barrel lengths. You can buy snubby ammo from http://www.starsandstripesammo.com and/or http://www.texas-ammo.com.

If you get a .32M gun with a 4" or 5" barrel (Ruger makes SA with longer than 4"), then the Federal JHP ammo is excellent, powerful, clean, accurate, cheap, and is optimized specifically for a 5" barrel, which is close enough for a 4" barrel. Federal can be purchased from many online places for great prices. All other brands of ammo are optimized for 6" barrels.

Matte black .32M Ruger SP101?

As most people know, the Ruger SP101 comes in flashy stainless steel finish. Beautiful, and also intimidating if you're on the wrong end of it.

However, what if you want a stealthy matte black one?

Wilson Gunsmiths will put a coat of matte black bake on gun paint on a stainless steel SP101 for $200.

I like my stainless SP101, but am considering buying a second one and having my first one trigger jobbed and painted matte black. The trigger job would cost in addition to the $200 for the matte black paint job.

The paint job includes them taking the gun apart and sand blasting it to make it rough enough for the bake on matte black paint to stick.

Think about it. A stealthy black gun that is also highly rust resistant. Same matte black job could be done with the Stainless Steel Taurus .32M Snubby or any stainless steel handgun or rifle. I think they said the price is the same for all handguns and rifles (steel or stainless). $200 sounds really reasonable considering they have to disassemble it and then clean, sandblast, and clean the parts again before painting, then reassemble. That's a lot of work for $200. Seems like a good deal to me.

You can do the coating yourself and save $150 or so, and depending on what they're using, it will probably be as durable if not more so. Lauer DuraCoat is easy to apply and they have started kits for about $50 that includes the airbrush. I've done several guns with it so far and I'm impressed with how easy it is to apply. One of the most durable finishes available also.
