Hello everyone, right now I am in the process of getting a workspace set up to start reloading in. It's probably going to take a month or two, however in the interim I am working on acquiring the components and equipment needed to begin.

Now it seems that the only cost effective way (short of buying in massive bulk) to get powder and primers is from local stores, so that kinnda rules out receiving anything other than general tips from online (which are most welcome). Bullets, however don't have the $20 hazmat fee. So I was wondering where you reloaders have found the best and most cost effective bullets at online. I am looking for in particular 9x19mm bullets weighing from 115-147 grains. I've stumbled onto Rockey Mountain Reloading's webpage, and they have Lead 115 gr for .066/bullet and FMJ 115 gr for .069/bullet (both of which are shipped) So far I haven't found anything better on the web, but I also have done very little searching.

Is there anywhere else I should look before buying from here?

THANKS!!!

P.S. I did a forum search and didn't come up with anything on this topic, I'm sorry if this question has been asked already.

I third xtreme bullets haven't bought 9 yet but have been buying 40 for years great company great prices and fast shipping

Do yourself a favor and slug your barrel before buying a lot of plated or cast bullets. If you buy jacketed bullets it is not much of an issue.

Cast and plated need to be at least .001 larger than barrel diameter or you will never achieve good accuracy. Most plated and cast manufacturers only sell in 1 diameter so, if like me your barrel is larger, they are worthless.

In my case, my barrel was .358 in diameter. Nearly all plated and cast are sold as .356. The only online manufacturer I have found that sells bullets in multiple diameters is pennbullets.com. I decided to cast my own so I never ordered from them.

Unfortunately, before I learned about this, I ordered nearly 5k lead bullets from various websites... It was an expensive lesson.

Again...X-Treme bullets for plated or precision delta for fmj.

You may find that buying powder and primers online can be economical depending on what your LGS charges even with the hazmat, which is more like $28, and shipping. You don't have to buy massive amounts to even things out usually. Three or four pounds of powder and a brick of primers at Powder Valley prices with hazmat and shipping is cheaper than LGS prices around here. That is of course if the LGS ever actually had any powder anybody wanted, which they don't.

I use RMR bullets and have had good luck with them. A lot of people on this forum use them and the owner is a member. I just bought 1000 158gr 38's. I believe I have around 1500 on his 124gr 9mm bullets on my bench, they have worked well in my cx4 storm, and pistols that I have since sold. I don't like lead so I always get plated or fmj. Oh pay the $3 and get the shipping insurance, those packages are very heavy.

What Schwing said! Go to the Darda's website. Buy some lead slugs from him, slug your barrel, then send him your slugs. He'll measure them for free. My S&W M&P 9mm barrel slugged out @ 0.356 diameter. I buy 0.357's from him and the price is right.

I've had good luck with Berry's. They are plated soload accordingly. Very reasonable prices.

Depending on type;

Montana Gold - Jacketed bullets

Xtreme Bullets - Plated bullets

Missouri Bullets - Cast Lead bullets.

Those are my three main avenues of acquiring bullets.:D

I recommend xtreme and RMR. I've had best service/product from xtreme. Matter of fact, I need to order a couple thousand more from xtreme today. ;)

I also am a fan of Xtreme for plated bullets. I like Missouri Bullet for cowboy load lead. If you want to shoot lead without the exposure, coated bullets are great. Falcon and Bayou are great for coated lead, and SNScasting makes a harder cast coated bullet for higher velocities.

Missouri Bullet now offers coated lead too

Thanks for the support guys. I want to add that we are discounting a lot of our 9mm right now. We have a new plated product that comes standard with a heavy plating and it differs from other plated bullets in that it has a harder core of 11-12 BHN. The 124 grainers start at $81 for 1000 shipped and go down the more you buy. Also, we have some of the 115/124 mixed bullets on sale right now for $65 per 1000 shipped. We also dropped our price on the 115 hollow base FMJ to $81 per 1000 shipped. Lastly, we just implemented a 5% off coupon for THR members. The coupon code is thehighroad5 and you MUST add your THR username into the "notes" section of your order. If the name is not there, we will cancel the order. This is to make sure that the contrubuting THR community, which has been immensely supportive of us, benefits from this coupon code. If the code ventures too far outside of this community we will be forced to get rid of it. So please please please, if you want to share the coupon code with a friend make sure they join our THR community and contribute with a few posts before they use the code. Thanks again for the support!!!
