Wondering 2 things:

1. What sites sell high capacity mags (40,50,100 rds)?

2. What sites sell the best/cheapest 30 round mags?

Cheapest 30 rds mags I've found are on www.dsarms.com, black/tan/clear mags for $12 each

Thanks everyone

Yeah, I currently have 2 steel mags. Don't know how the plastic ones hold up but apparently they aren't good. My local shop does have Arsenal magazines that are made of nonmetal material, are those good?

Don't know how the plastic ones hold up but apparently they aren't good.

Plastic mags with steel inserts for the feed lips and locking lugs for the mag well run pretty well. The Circle 10 Bulgarians have these and work.

Those which lack the metal reinforcement tend to be sketchy. I can't remember if any domestic US manufacturers are using metal reinforcement in their mags, but at one point none of them were if I'm not mistaken.

I have two pro mags that are polymer, they run fine.

But I do prefer the ruggedness of steel mags.

There are some 100-round Chinese drums out there, but they're rarer than the 75-round ones. The Chinese (and Bulgarian, which are made on Chinese tooling) drums are considered superior to the Romanian drums, as the Chinese ones are faster to load and can be stored without spring tension.

As for other large-capacity mags, the only ones worth touching are milsurp 40-rounders (originally issued with RPKs). The really long US-made 50-, 60- and 100-round box mags are worthless.

Get the steel ones, they are cheap and they are invincible. Bulgarian are good too, but only if you want to spend the extra cash.

Cheapest mags I've found were on www.aimsurplus.com

And their "new" steel Bulgarian mags are truly new -- couple I bought were nicer condition than any metal 47 mag I'd ever handled. I picked up two of their "used" Hungarians along the way as well, which were close enough to new condition that I could not tell much difference between them and the Bulgarians. (Did buy a used 20 round Hungarian which was in clearly used, but good, condition.)

Reviews

I have been wanting one of these for years and now I have two. They look great and I cant wait to te..

That is NOT a review.

I noticed that too. J and G sales' site does that too and its really annoying. Just say the review can't be more than so many words long instead of cutting them off like that. Strange.

Aimsurplus. The 30 round Romanian all steel mags are great. I bought 20 of them and while I had some cleaning to do on them, they were all in very good shape.

Most fit tight and snug in my AK, a few would move if I wobbled the gun back and forth, but overall for $9 a mag, I don't think you can beat it.

the Hungarian ones are very nice. I bought mine new from Cope's. they're spotless and look great. They also fit very snugly in my Saiga.

I would go the route of buying some of the AIM used ones, clean them if necessary, then simply paint over any finish wear. I think that's what I'll do shortly...

I recently bought several Bulgarian 30 rounders from Aim for my Yugo M72 RPK. They are a bit loose in the mag well but it does not effect functioning. I think they are good mags.

The also have Bulgarian 75 rounds drums available. They're a bit pricey but still a lot cheaper than the Norinco drums I see offered occasionally.
