Brownells wants $113! Is this the only option? I'll pay a fair price but that's nuts.
Thanks,
Steve

I got mine on Ebay and AuctionArms....you may have to wait a while before what you're looking for turns up, but the winning bid is usually around 50-60 bucks. The best success I've had is to do a search on Ebay, checking the Sporting Goods auction, and doing separate searches with the following terms:"870 extension," "870 extention," and "870 mag ext." Sometimes folks will misspell their auction item.

Most common is the extension for 18" barrels, those for 20" are a litle harder to find.

Good luck

Oh, don't forget to search Gunbroker. Refine your searches. Also, place a WTB thread in THR's trading post section. I've had offers from members here. Eventually a factory piece will show up.

One alternative is to find a local dealer and have him order an extension from a Remington Law Enforcement distributor.
These are usually cheaper.

A good factory-equivalent extension is the near-direct copy made by Tank's Rifle Shop.

Listed below the Choate unit, the Tank's is an almost direct copy of the factory model, but lacks the clamp positioning groove of the Remington factory unit and the extended bayonet mount end cap.

It does come with an Uncle Mike's clamp, which is a direct copy of the Remington clamp.
The Factory clamp and the Uncle Mike's copy are the best clamps made.

Rem 870 Mag Extension

I found that Remington would not sell the factory mag extension to my local gunsmith even though he is a Remington LE dealer or so he told me. I ended up having to fax them a copy of my Police ID and a request for the extension on Dept letterhead. I don't know why they are so weird about an 870 mag extension but for some reason that's the way it is.

That said I am glad I got the Remington extension over an aftermarket version. It fits correctly and also has the barrel clamp which I have found to be very important to re-enforce the end of the magazine where it is vunerable to damage.

If you shop around for a used one make sure you confirm that you are getting a parkerized one or a blued one. I'm not sure which one you want but some sellers forget to mention that part of the deal. I found that it seemed there were far more blued ones available than parkerized, which is what I wanted.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Merry Christamas all.

Remington should sell them though as they sell the Express HD model that comes with the extention. Their policy makes no sense.

I found mine over at the equipment exchange on ARF.com. It took a while though, seemed no one was selling em'.

Good that you're getting the factory extension. I think these are the best.

Mine was $50 used.
