I've been happy with my current production NM Gold Cups, I have four. One in each in the following cartridges, 45 ACP, 38 Super, 9xq9, and 38/.45 Clerke. The latter was a rebarrel version of a 45 ACP NM pistol. They all shoot well but I'm sure they could be improved upon. I'm getting to the age where I dont shot as well as in younger years.
I have Gold Cup Trophys in 45 ACP and 38 Super as well as a Gold Cup Trophy Lite in 38 Super. I like the 38 Super cartridge hence the leaning to that cartridge. But, you cannot go wrong with ever you choose.
The 38/45 Clerke was decveloped for target shooting in the early 1960's. The Idea was that one could use the same gun for the 45 ACP round and the 38 caliber round merely by switching out the barrels and springs. Ultimately, it did not work out as designed, I load my 38/45 Clerke to about equal 38 Super levels and have fun with the cartridge. My rebarreled Gold Cup NM functions better with the round than my modified Government Serises 70 pistol.
The 38/45 Clerke can be driven harder than the 38 Super but I see no need for that.
Anyway, choose the model Gold Cup that sits your needs, it will serve you well.
