I'm lokking into buying either a Glock 19 or S&W 9mm. Does anyone know a good dealer around the Cincinnati area fro handguns?

Target World is probably close to you. I've never dealt with them but have heard decent things about them. If you don't mind the drive to the Dayton area I could give you several spots that I am familiar with and owners of shops that are good to deal with.
Peabody Sports would be my first choice.

Hi Paul...

There is also this list of coming gun shows in that general area

October

28th & 29th - PRO Gun Show – Roberts Centre, Wilmington, OH

November
18th & 19th - Bill Goodman’s Gun & Knife Show – HARA Arena, Dayton, OH
25th & 26th - PRO Gun Show – Westland Mall, Columbus, OH

Happy Hunting!

Depends on what you want. IMHO, Target World is premium priced (if not over-priced), but have the biggest selection around. I would echo what was said about Shooters' Suppy in Loveland. Prices are hard to beat, even on-line (when you factor in shipping and transfer). I do a lot of business with them. There are others, but it depends on what you are looking for.

I used to live in Cincinnati, and I liked Costello's Guns near College Hill (on Galbraith). Small shop but good selection and prices. You might call him before you go. He still shows up on Yahoo, but Yahoo is slow to update changes, such as store closings (I've been gone for 3 1/2 years - I miss the town - had to move to Detroit :( ).

KY

If you cross the river into Kentucky there are 4 shops fairly close by that will do the transfer to Ohio for free or for a minimal fee. I know Mark's does.

That also gives you 4 more places to shop for the best price.

Mark's Guns - Florence KY 859-525-6466

RLC - Florence KY 859-371-3900

Quick Cash Pawn - Florence KY 859-282-7711

Shooters - Independence KY 859-356-3300

Hope this helps!

Mark

I am going to add my 2 cents to Target World.

Are they overpriced ??Depends on what you want. IMHO, Target World is premium priced (if not over-priced), but have the biggest selection around. I would echo what was said about Shooters' Suppy in Loveland. Prices are hard to beat, even on-line (when you factor in shipping and transfer). I do a lot of business with them. If you are used to buying on the internet at cost plus 5% then by your definition their prices are higher.

Would you call $527.00 for a glock 19 overpriced with a cost of $449.00.
( you can get the cost of glocks from Glock Talk so it is no secret on what they cost ).
That is only a 15% markup.

Target World has over 2000 guns in stock.
How much do you think it costs to carry that much inventory??
Can a store like that survive on lower margins?

I think not.

Most of their firearms are discounted fairly off retail.

If you want to buy at cost plus 5% then continue to do so.
Please do not bash a stocking dealer for trying to make a fair profit to keep in business.

I echo most of what others have said. I will be taking my friend to the ProGun show in Wilmington to look for a handgun.

There is another dealer that has not been mentioned yet. Gary's Guns in Fairfield has very reasonable prices. He no longer goes to the shows and doesn't have a huge inventory but always has an interesting selection of used guns.

I have purchased several new handguns from him in the past that he ordered for me for a very small mark up. If you are close to Fairfield, he is worth a look see.

There are only three gun shops that I would do business with. One Stop gun shop in Newtown is a good place on the east side. I purchased a shotgun there once. I usually go to Arms and Accessories on Harrison and Northbend Rd on the west side or Costellos Gun Shop in North College Hill. They are in the yellow pages.
