I would greatly appreciate hearing from fellow reloaders on where they get the best deals on gun powder and primers. It seems all the local shops have given up on carrying those items...just loaded rounds. I used to buy powder and primers at the Bass ProShop but to my chagrin...they discontinued carrying those items. Is it just me or has anyone else noticed dealers tacking on "processing charges" if you don't buy a certain amount...then your hit with these outrageous shipping & handling charges!

Gun shows around here do not sell powder or primers. There sometimes are cast bullets and usually there's ammunition, but not much.

Powdervalleyinc.com is consistantly the cheapest place to buy powder and primers.

I just placed my first order with hi-techammo.com a couple of days ago for two kegs of AA#7 powder -- less than $9 per pound delivered, including the hazmat fee! UPS says the package is on its way. That's the best deal I've seen in several years -- assuming the powder is fresh and not deteriorating.

If I just need one pound of powder or a couple of hundred primers, I usually buy locally at Dale's Gun Shop. Gotta keep the local shops in business too, and Dale's has a good gunsmith.

I try not to mail order if I dont have to. I am fortunate enough to have a Cabelas and Sportsmans warehouse close to home. but sportsmans by me has prmers and powder at the same price as midway. $22/K on primers and $15-$18/Lb on powders.

My last order was just a week ago. I did an exact comparison between Powder Valley (my usual spot) and Grafs and Sons. Grafs includes shipping in the prices and ended up being considerably less expensive than PV.

This order was for 16lbs of powder and 5K primers. If I could've ordered more than that, the cost at Grafs would have been even better, due to a 5% discount and a hazmat fee waiver.

When you fill out the online order at Powder Valley, shipping is not listed. My previous order at PV was last January and I recall being annoyed and shocked at the shipping cost. Hence my venture to Grafs for the next order.

It pays to comparison shop.

zxcbob, yes cabela's is insane lately on primers at least. but I just bought a few bricks from sportsmans this week for $22. Cabela's is still O.K on bullets (within a dollar or two of midway as of 3 weeks ago) but its twice the drive, and around 2 bucks more on powder.

I buy all of my powder and primers at Graf's. When they don't have what I want then I buy from Powder Valley. The only reason I go to Graf's first is because I have a C&R license and they give me a nice discount.
