This is probably a long shot but I was moving the scope on my 10/22 from the old flat base to a new EGW 20-MOA base and the cross bolt broke on the rear ring. I hadn't even started to torque it down was just snugging both bolts up with the gun stood up on it muzzle and it twisted right off. Maybe too many Christmas cookies.

Any suggesting for a source of parts for this Weaver ring? Not finding much on Weavers site.

Or a good set of 22LR appropriate 30mm Low (~0.84") rings that won't break the bank?

I sent them an email well see what they come back with.

In the mean time I found Midway has Vortex Pro Series rings on sale so I ordered a set of these.

The threads on that broken stud are 6-48 which is a non-standard extra fine thread. Not sure why a standard thread would not work? If I can't get the part from Weaver I might slip into work and modify an 8-32 bolt as a new cross bolt and rethread the nut to 8-32. Far from ideal but for an inexpensive set of rings probably my best option short of just pitching them.

I would buy some other rings. Not Weaver. TPS, Leupold, etc.
I would agree and have a set of Vortex Pro on the way. That said for the $30 I spent on these Weaver rings they performed well on my 10/22 I have been using for NRL22 matches. The bolt breaking is my only complaint. It's hard to drop top dollar on rings for a 22LR that is only wearing a Athlon scope.

Ive actually had really good service from all of my weaver rings, and use them fairly often since they are cheap and available locally.
Snapping off thr cross bolt is pretty common tho, especially on the ones using the big nuts for drivers.

I agree for the price they seemed like good looking and well functioning rings. Looking at Weavers website it seems the version I have is being replaced by a newer version with a heavier cross bolt.

I have several scope mounts that use those 1/2 nuts and all of them typically call for 65 in-lbs of torque, BUT I knew the Weaver cross-bolt was not that strong. I was using my Fix-It-Sticks to do the work but had not yet grabbed the torque limiter since I was just snugging things. Weaver calls for 35 in-lbs on the cross bolt of the old style 4-hole rings but it sure felt like it broke lower than that. With the short T-handle in the Fix-It-Sticks it takes me fairly concerted effort to get above 35 in-lbs and actually getting to 65 in-lbs I usually turn the T-handle 90 degrees putting the torque limiter and driver in the end of the handle to have a longer lever to torque with.

Ive found they stretch at 35, which gives good tension and they dont loosen, but act a bit like a lot of head bolts and become one use items. I usually dont take mine past 25 if im likely to take the mount off. I expect to snap them eventually tho.
I also forgot to mention troys right, they will send you a hand full of them if you ask, thats where i got my spares.

Quick update: Took a few tries to get through to Weaver/Vista-Outdoors due to the holidays and Covid. When I did get through to them they were very friendly and I should have two new cross-bolts coming in the mail, free of charge.

But being an impatient person and not want to have to wait to the last minute to get my 10/22 back up and running before the next NRL22 match in two weeks I ordered the Vortex Pro series rings and installed them earlier this week with the EGW 20-MOA rail I bought at the beginning of this saga.

For the sale price I got the rings from Midway I am really please with these rings. They are solid well built rings. One nice thing is the screws that close the rings on the scope are the same screws that clamps the rings to the picatinny rail and Vortex throws in two spare screws with the rings. They are also laser etch with the torque specs for each location on the rings. Very nice rings for the price.

The extended length of the EGW rail let me move the scope about an inch further forward and since I was wrenching on the rifle I made two 1/4-inch thick spacers to add 1/2-inch to the Length of Pull.

The 20 MOA rail did not get me back quite as much elevation I thought it would. In theory I should have gotten back 5.8 mils (20 MOA) but when I got it sighted back in I had only gotten back a bit over 3 mils. Still that is enough that I can now dial in a 200 yard adjustment on the scope from my 50 yard zero and not run out of elevation as I would before the new 20-MOA rail. The only draw back is the EGW rail and new rings moved the scope up about .3 inches at the turrets compared to my old flat weaver rail and weaver rings.

It still shoots OK too.

I need to look and see if my range offers something like NRL

I have those rings bookmarked, they do look like nice rings for the money.
