Take Aim is great- they recently remodelled the range and showroom, adding several tons of soundproofing and better ventilation. It is a family business that has been there for years and Ive known Don, the owner for decades. They are good folks.
A Shoot Straight chain store/ range went in directly across the street from Take Aim a couple years ago. It is big, it is flashy. Ive heard that the range is nice. I dont care for the owner so I dont go there. Incidentally he also owns the local big travelling gunshow. I rarely go to that either- lots of dealers selling new guns at inflated prices, IMO. There is a smaller travelling show which is way better, IMO- more old guns and private sellers.
There is a place in central Sarasota called High Noon. Big shop with a small attached range next to a pizza place, lol. Open fairly late and convenient, but can get smokey if busy at all and only 15yd lanes.
There is a kinda ratchet place in Bradenton called Bullseye. Small shop with a equally small, kinda primitive range. Nice guys, but not the best facility, imo.
These are all the local indoor places.
For outdoor options, we really only have two.
Knights Trail State Park off Laurel Rd. Is a decent range, big and well- regulated by full-time RSOs. It only goes out to 100yd, however.
Probably the best of all is Manatee Gun Club out east on SR64. Beautiful facilities, good supervision, and lanes all the way out to 600yd.
