I knew there was a 7.62x39 shortage, but now that I've got an AR to feed, there seems to be a shortage of that as well. Any sources on 1000 rounds, hp for under $135???

bahahahahaha, $135
try about $200 or more per case even for surplus.

I haven't seen even Wolf under $200

Best deal I've found in my area was $199.99 for 1000 rounds of surplus. Gander Mountain is down the street from me and they have signs posted saying .223 ammo deliveries would be sporadic at best.

try

ammoman.com, cheaper than dirt, etc, but $135 is a pipe dream now...

the ammunition store has brass cased, boxer primed, wolf @ $209 per 1K. and that's a little better than average.

personally i'm thinking of getting one of those .50cal cans that has 720rd of radway green M855 + repack kits for said amount of ammo, stuffed inside. they're going for around $185-190 (after shipping etc.) and the repack kits come in handy for later bulk ammo buys.

I'm finding Wolf all over the place for this price, but it's all backordered.

yeah and it'll stay that price untill the day after they get some in, i think if you accept a putting your name on the list of folks that want it at that price and willing to wait, and they accept said order, they're obligated to sell it at that rate (i may be wrong there), but i'd be willing to bet that when the next sizable shipment comes in that their price goes up for all subsequent cases.

TBL, you missed a few rounds, but I shot those already...:D

ammoman is a pretty good deal right now, but check out the ammo price listings in the ar15.com ammunition forum (updated daily!) for good deals.

Just bought 1000rds of lake city from thearmory.com got here quick. $179 plus shipping. But it is good stuff and the exact same as we use in the army.

Tell me about it, how are they gonna put something "on sale" that they don't have?

My gun store has Wolf .223 priced @ $114.00 per 1K. I know there's a lot of Wolf haters, but my gun seems to eat everything so I'm happy:)

For those of you in NY, I'm talking about Collectables in Hopewell Jct.

Keep in mind this is often factory seconds that didn't pass the Army's
stringent inspection  Seriously, it is. I've come across a 1-5% reject
rate due to split necks, crinkled brass cases, and flat out corrosion (yes,
I wondered how long they left it sitting outside in acid rain) --all in post
2000 batches.

$179 is also up in price from a couple years backs and this stuff is
drying up again for a while. Wolf is up a lot, too, for those who can
still find it.

Again, my apologies.....I'll switch to 7.62x39 for a few weeks and make
THAT ammo situation even worse!

i have gotten them and inspected them and they are 2005 manufacture, from lake city and they are identical to what we use they are very clean and i have run across no split cases, crinkled cases, or corrosion, while putting all 1000rds on stripper clips. i shot 200 rds of them today at the range and they did just like they should. but thanks for the warning and i will watch for that.

just returned from the Houston gunshow, got 720rds radway green (all '89 vintage) with stripper clips and bandoleers (no cardboard inserts though... do these even use the inerts to keep the clipped ammo from clinking??) for $144+tax

point of interest (to me at least). the bandoleers were a 5 pocket design, all i've seen advertised were 4 and 7 pocket styles, that held 150rds per. and 6 came with the can so 720rds and strippers for that amount, but the # of bandoleers was for 900rds (the british markings on the can indicated it originally held 900 btw). so 720 filled 4 full bandoleers plus 4 of 5 pockets on the fifth. and yes i AM a little bit OCD enough for this to feel weird, like teh round/stripper count should equal out to fully fill a set number of bandoleers... but that's MY weird self  lol

I don't shoot that much .223 - my stash of South African battlepacks still isn't used up and I can't even recall the last time I saw them for sale - but I got a new mid-length ArmaLite recently and the shop sold me 1000 rounds of XM193 for $180 to go along with it and I figured that was a decent enough buy to grab while I could, even if it'll take me a few years to burn through it.

XM193 is OK ammo. However, the loose packed XM193PD is downright unsafe. I've been getting a 2-3% squib rate as well as several rounds that are visibly dangerous to load.

Started shooting my case of "Wolf" (Prvi Partisan) brass cased ammo today.

The label states "M193", I did not have a chronograph handy but it seemed to be full power ammo. Since I do not know anything about the bullets used I will treat it like any other blasting ammo and shoot it all up.:D

Walmart Winchester .223 is still cheaper, when you can find it. Probably hard to find because folks like me clean them out on a regular basis.

If I have any problems I will post about it, but it shoots great so far.:)
