I recently aquired a GP100. I intend to reload for it, but need some brass to get started so I might as well buy some factory stuff to shoot up... So where's the best place to buy some 357?

www.ammoengine.com

Go here, select .357Mag from the dropdown menu, and viola!

I prefer to shoot .38spcl in my Security Six, but have only been able to find 357Mag at the local stores lately.

Arch, have you used this ammo? What was your opinion of it? Is it loaded light? Any issues with fouling? I'm assuming plated is thiner than jacketed.

Some of the best stuff for the money is Federals "American Eagle" line. The factory loads are just fine, AND you get once fired Federal brass out of the deal.

Loanshark,
I haven't bought their ammo because I load my own but my son's friend bought 500 rounds of .38 Special and 500 rounds of .357 Magnum from them. It's no Federal or Speer ammo but for the price it's very good practice ammo. It's loaded to middle of the road velocities, not very hot but not too light either. It seems to be accurate enough and there was no excessive fouling. It looks like they are using Unique powder but that's just a guess on my part. They make jacketed and plated ammo but of course the plated stuff is cheaper. I think they are using Speer bullets in their higher end stuff or they wouldn't be able to call it Gold Dot.

They also make a hot ammo they call "Canned Heat" and it is fairly hot and they ship in an ammo can.
