Which 1911 brand?

I recommend a Les Baer Premier II. The L.B. minimum is 3 inches at 50 yards. If can, buy it with the 1.5 inch at 50 yard option. I have the L. B. TRS. Even without the 1.5 inch option is very easy to shoot well.

Note: Not all 1911 makers list accuracy specs/claims the same way. Not all of them use 50 yards when they make their accuracy claims. You have to read carefully.

If you look closely at the bottom of the brown factory test in the picture supplied by ReadyontheRight, it says the very nice group was shot at 50' (feet). That's 16.67 yards. You would at least want to multiply the ctc group size by 3 to get an idea of a 50 yard group from that pistol. It is still very, very good but you have to know what you are buying.

Good luck,
Rich

I am very pleased with my new Colt 1991A1 Combat Commander. So far I have put 100 rnds of Remington 230 grn FMJ through my Colt and it has functioned flawlessly. The fit and finish are excellent. It also came with beautiful double-checkered rosewood grips. I paid $599 in So. CA, which I think is reasonable.

I like the Dan Wessons, but I can't get them in this freakin state!

I know I'm a long way away from being able to buy a handgun MYSELF. However, my parents CAN buy guns. My situation is that my parents aren't anti-guns, but they just don't really care for them. If I'm really good, though, or if I save up a lot of money and give it to them, they'll buy a gun.

I think they are around $1500. You should go to the Valtro USA website and check with John J.

About 6 months ago I paid $1350 for a new Valtro (standard CA approved model).

I bought a "Custom Carry" from Springfield about 12 or so years ago......It has never had any issues. If your experience was the same as mine (assuming that you could get the same piece now), you would be well advised to do likewise.

P.S. I suspect that the custom shop could still do it for you.
