A 1911 does not have the ability to be carried BOTH DA/SA and C&L. The H&K USP can.

What exactly does this have to do with the OP's question???

I treat these polls like the show "Top Gear" on BBC. They'll review a supercar and compare it against a minivan in regards to storage space, then recommend another car entirely.

RIA tactical. Can't be beat for the money in my book. Yes I have some high end's too, but this RIA 45 is as good to me as any. Just that simple.

I voted for the Ed Brown Signature Edition just because I have always wanted one of their guns and price, at least in this latest poll, is no object.

$2500 would be my limit for a 1911 thats going to be a beater. You carry it every day, you can kiss collector value goodbye.

Thats said I voted Wilson Combat XTAC

Anything from Les Baer is a rock solid carry gun. Maybe not the best finish on the market but solid as a hammer when it comes to reliability and toughness. I would go with the HEMI or even the BOSS if you can find one.

What other premium 1911 makers are out there that have semi custom guns for sale around 3500$

Springfields custom shop guns are nothing to sneeze at.
Christensen's titanium frames are pretty sweet.

I would look at Ithaca Gun from Ohio, USA. The base price is about $1800 and rumor is they have pretty good custom shop setup that could add special touch to the gun at reasonable prices. If money was no object I would look at Cabot Smith if only because Cabot cheese is my favorite unless I'm in Europe for business or pleasure.

For service and fighting purposes I choose the Springfield Professional. I put different grip panels, on mine, prefer a tactically extended mag release. I have owned mine since 2006 IIRC. Might be 2005.

For CCW I carry a Colt 21st Century LtWgt Commander (Wiley Clapp) with additional modifications by Eric Zinn.

My Home Defense is a Kimber Warrior with Surefire X-400 & DG switch, S&A magwell.

My choice of the Springfield professional is that it is the only gun at the time, and later a few other mkers, that was made specifically for fighting. Not collecting, target shooting, or BBQ's.

Only your shooting hand and the squinting eye can answer that. But most anything above $1K is hot air, no matter how convincing on paper. For better shooting, make it about 5" bbl 40 oz and good (not GI classic) sights.

Are you serious? How many 1k 1911's shoot 1.5" 10-shot groups at 50 yards?

Take a look at Heirloom Precision.

Frankly, $3,000 or more is a bit over the top. You can get an excellent gun for under that and buy a pallet of ammunition with the remaining funds.

Les Baer PII 1.5" guarantee, refinished with IonBond DLC, fiber optic front sight. Very accurate and stone cold reliable.

Ed Brown Executive Target. Refinished slide with IonBond, fiber optic front sight. Very accurate, stone cold reliable.

For daily carry I used a J frame S&W & S&W 1911PD Commander with scandium frame and CT Laser grips.

I'd go Ed Brown Executive carry if I wanted a higher end daily carry.

Guess what, that less than $1,000.00 1911 will kill what it is looking at within 50 yds. at about an 80% rate, the remaining $ will go for a nice coffin.

Sure Ill give you that and It may be great for plinking and range use. However, to be used and ran hard day after day year after year. Those budget parts that make it affordable are simply not going to hold up.

Guess what? Not all of us own 1911's as killing instruments.
