I am just getting started on loading 223 I have a lee classic 4 hole turret press. I am confused on dies I see lee alone has two different ones. I will be loading for a ar15. Please explain the difference so I understand for the future. I also am aware I need to order a rifle charging die, case lube, and case triming tool any recommendations. Is there anything else I am missing. Thanks in advance.

New to .223 dies, I bought the lee deluxe dies. I read about 200 reviews of both, and comparisons, and the general consensus is the deluxe dies over the pacesetter dies.

Both sets have a full length re-sizing die and a bullet seating die. The difference is that one has a factory crimp die for crimping the bullets (not really necessary) and the other has a neck sizing die. The neck sizer can be used if you are re-using the brass in the same rifle. If you get brass from somewhere other than your rifle you will need to Full Length Re-size. I use a 2 die set (RCBS)on the AR, as the brass gets dinged and beat up a bit more and they seem to take out some of the blemish's. The neck sizer dies are great for bolt gun's and are a little less stressful on the brass, and I believe will make a little more accurate round. The crimp isn't a must on .223 but it won't hurt anything either. I have a set of Lee with the neck sizer for my 30-30 and they work really well.

Okay well I called lee and they said I need the pacesetter set since the deluxe set is not recomended for auto (ar15) only bolt action. Any other info on couple other things would be great.

Any brass shot in a auto needs full re sizing! Your Lee dies is all you need if you have a Lee auto disk powder measure. If you do not have one you need to get your self one. It will make reloading faster. If shooting a bolt gun then neck re-sizing is all you need to do.A factory crimp die is a good thing on any auto. I have then for every auto that I have. They do crimp the bullet tighter that way in a auto you do not worry about a bullet moving in the case.Good luck

If you don't plan on loading for a bolt action I'd get the RGB set. Especially of you already have the 380 set because you can use the shell holder from that.

I have the lee pro powder already but not the rifle charging die and since I am going to be loading for ar15 not bolt action. Why the RGB set and I do already have dies to load my .380. I see it just dont come with the crimp die which some say to crimp and some don't. Please verify this is the correct charging die

I bought the lee RGB two die set as well as the powder through expander die so you can use the powder measure if you have one...

"Why the RGB set"
Because it comes with the 2 dies you need to reload for an AR-15 and nothing more so it costs less. No need to pay for something you don't need.

As for the 380 shell holder, I didn't check but I'm guessing it's the same holder used with the 223 brass. There are many case holders with multiple uses.

Yes, the charging die you linked to is what you need to use your Pro Auto-Disk but you will also need the Double-Disk Kit so you can throw enough powder in one pass.

Okay well I located pacesetter set of dies that I have coming. know the search for a rifle charging die is on. Thanks for the info on the double disk kit but I picked one up last year at a show.
