Which ammo?

Both should be ok for an AR, but the 55gr Federal is a lead core and the 62gr PPU has a steel penetrator tip.
Many ranges do not allow steel core ammo to be used.

Both are good.

However, given a choice, I would keep my money, and somebodys job, in America instead of Serbia.

Buy the Federal Lake City, unless you just want the 62 grain SS109 bullets.

RC is correct in referring you to the Lake City. The LC in M 193 design is about a serious a round as you can get.

Is this just for blasting? If so, M193 is nice. It's not the most accurate ammunition, but it goes bang every time and it's hot stuff.

I like to get the stuff on stripper clips. You can load a 30 round magazine in about 30 seconds and you'll have really good brass left over.

M 193 is serious offensive ammo. I have found it to be reasobale accurate ammo.

"Ar" is so general, is it a .223, 5.56, or wylde chamber?
whats the rate of twist?
overall a 62 grain is usually good, lighter or heavier depends on rate of twist. you need a faster twist for a heavier bullet i belive.

I have a 5.56 chamber and 1-7 twist rate.

Is the Prvi more accurate than the M193?

I've shot both. My BCM uppers preferred the M855 over the XM193. However my Bushy preferred the Federal XM193.

For the record my Bushy is a 1/9" twist and my BCMs are 1/7" twist.

If I was in a self-defense situation, which has better terminal ballistics. The Prvi is steel core so wouldn't it just pass right through someone?

That was informative, thank you.

Seems that M193 is the safer bet overall.

i shoot pmc, almost exclusivly. it has been a long time since i have shot another brand. However of the many many people that i know in the trainnig community, and that attend courses, they have had no issues with Privi, but there have been a few issues with the federal m193, but not enough to warrant not buying it my opinion.

Ditto - PMC seems to be a great blend of accuracy and price.

cbrgator, I vastly prefer an expanding bullet for defense. Right now that's Georgia Arms 55 grain ballistic tip.

As to what shoots better, it's really pretty dependent on your individual rifle. Generally, the faster twist stabilizes heavier bullets better, but as to which exact bullet your rifle likes, got to get to the range.

I could see stockpiling some M855 if I was worried about a Chinese invasion or the zombie apocalypse. But it wouldn't be my first choice for defense. With a 1:7 twist, I would probably run 77 gr OTMs or 75 gr TAP for defense.
