I'm looking at getting a browning buckmark. The gun would be primairily be used as a range gun, but it would also get used for small game hunting while camping. I get up to AK caribou hunting every year and a .22 pistol would be a great way to get some fresh meat to suppliment the freeze dried meals I usually eat when I'm hunting. I am looking at either the hunter or the UDX plus.

I would like to put a small red dot sight on it as I tend to shoot them a bit better than open sights. The hunter already comes with a sight rail, but it is a bit long for a backpacking gun in my opinion.

Which buckmark would be better suited mostly range work with the ocasional backpacking trip. I'm open to suggestions on other models as well.

I love my Buckmark for a range pistol. Don't know if it's conducive to having something mounted or not.

I like the URX models. The UDX's are pretty, but do not fit my hand as well as the URX. The URX comes in a model called the Contour, which has a rail already on it.

I have a Browning Buckmark Bullseye Target URX model and really like it. Great trigger and the long barrel makes it an excellent target gun.

I have the plain jane Buckmark Camper. Excellent pistol never fails and fits my hand much better than my Mk I Ruger ever did. As for camp meat if you're in Northern Alaska in late summer a .22 is just the thing to get ptarmigan with. Of course a fishing rod will do that job well too.
