Which Choke tubes for Clay's target

I have recently picked up a Traditions by Fausti that is a super fine piece of work and it has modified chokes in both O/U barrels. To shoot trap should I change out one or both of the chokes. Questions about best clay throwing machine will follow.

You could keep one barrel w/ modified or improved modified and one with full choke and see how you do.

Might want to pattern the gun first and see if it shoots high or 50/50. Field guns tend to shoot a little high.

I used full exclusively in in my Beretta 391 from everywhere..16 yard to 23 handicap. Never skipped a beat with it.

Started using my Benelli Nova which I only hunted with previously on the trap field and found the full choke to really make things difficult. Switched to modified in that gun and have hit a few 25/25 rounds.

About a hundred years ago I started out with modified. As I got better over the years, I wanted to dust the targets, not just break them. I switched to full choke and had to readjust a bit but now it's all smoke. Full choke also gives folks who may be a bit slower on picking up the bird a bit more leeway as the pattern stays closed for longer yardage.

Patterning

Patterning this O/U using the top/over barrel, I made my target from 24" wide paper that I use in my plotter. Cut two pieces 24" long and then joined the two pieces to basically give a 4'x4' target and cut vinyl to give an aim point, the black was just there because it was available. Used Federal 2 1/2 low brass, 7 1/2 shot, I am not the most stable shooter but still pleased with the pattern. Photo's are for your snickers and other amusement because I know that any one that can hold a shot gun up will be able to out shoot me all day long. Almost forgot to say I was shooting from a distance of around 45-50 ft.

While you use a center "aim point" to hold on as you fire, when it comes time to actually determine the pattern, you draw the 30"circle around the densest part of pattern regardless of where it is in relation to the center hold/aim point.

Personally, a M choke will work just fine until you get to the 27 yard line, as will a 1 oz or 7/8 load. No need beating yourself up and giving yourself a flinch with 1-1/8 oz max loads
