So I want to get into competition shooting....most likely IPSC and Bullseye.

What gun will I need? I could use my dads SA XD 9mm but it is "his" gun and he will probably offer to go in 50/50 with me....if I can convince him that this is a sport!

I reload so caliber is not a concern!

The guns I am looking at right now are:

CZ 75B or variant (SP-101) 9mm

Taurus PT1911 .45 ACP

A .22LR Pistol

What are your opinons on a gun suitable for IPSC/Bullseye, on a limited budget? maybe $550-$600 MAX cheaper the better!

Thanks,

Ryan

bullseye requires a 22 cal,a centerfire and a 45ACP.most folks use the 45 as their centerfire weapon. jwr

Of your options a CZ-75 goes well in IDPA and USPA(IPSC) production class. No Bullseye on that budget unless you get a Ruger MKII or the like and shoot .22 only.

It really depends on what class you want to shoot in. That's determined, to some degree, by budget.
Open class are very expensive (2K and up) for compensated barrels with electronic sights; Limited class is dominated by single actions weapons with the STI Edge on the expensive side but a high cap Para, the P16, is a great alternative. Some guys are shooting XDs and M&Ps in Limited class that are tricked out with incredible trigger jobs and mag wells. Limited class guns allow for high cap 20 round mags, iron sights and magwells. Production class is most affordable as its just that...production guns...lots of glocks, xds, m&ps, Berettas etc. Mags are limited to 10 rounds loaded. Single Stack is for 1911, metal frame, single stack firearms. Mags are limited to 8 rounds.

You can shoot the PT1911 in Single Stack or the CZ in Production Class. My suggestion is to shoot the XD in Production Class, its a great gun for that, and then see what you like. You could get an M&P in your price range and the gear you need. You'll need at least 5 mags but six would be better and the holders to go with them. Bladetech makes a great holster. My son loves Production Class but I like Limited. I just bought a S&W 1911PD and will shoot in Single Stack...just for fun.
