The acid in tomatos, AKA katchup, will strip the "seasonong" from black cast iron skillets/ditch ovens, requiring them to be "reseasoned" before use again around deer camp.
When I got my wet tumbler last year I bought Lemishine in the supermarket and it worked great. Now I need more....
Jesus, how much are you using? The smallest bottle of Lemishine (12 oz.) will make 340 gallons of solution.
Yes, Hot water with auto wash & wax and SS pins will restore them.If one uses too much is there a remedy? Will retumbling in clean water return the brass to "normal" ?
I do pretty much the same. With nasty brass I use 1 squirt of dishwashing soap, really hot water and 2cc of Citric Acid, no pins, and tumble that for 30 minutes.Li have a Frsnkford Asenal wet tumbler, the bigger one.
I fill it up with HOT tap water, a cap full of ArmorAll Wash & Wax, a 1/2 teaspoon of Lemi-Shine Booster and a small squirt of Dawn Dishsoap.
Absolutely. If you get too much and let it stay in the tumbler too long it will turn green and like steel casings. Is that true? I don’t mean are you lying but really, more darkens the brass? Explains a lot. I need to pay more attention when I add it.
