I've decided I no longer care that much about owning multiple bolt action centerfire rifles. About 200 yards is all I can safely shoot and I can't deer hunt with either rifle in Ohio. When I'm able to hunt groundhogs or coyotes, I never take either of these. They're both cheap rifles but I like the 110 better as far as rifles go. OTOH, I do enjoy the 6.5 and shoot it a little better. But for killing paper, it's not a huge difference. So, which to keep?

ETA. A little more context...I used to have a thing for Ruger M77's and had close to 30 of them. Got frustrated and sold them all, deciding I didn't need any nicer rifles sitting around never used. Now I've realized I don't need cheap rifles sitting around either.

Easy call for me. Keep the one you enjoy and shoot better.

Actually I'd get rid of them both and get one rifle that I really liked. Cheap, not so cheap, whatever. Life is uncertain, and the end is always near. At least that's what Jim Morrison said.

I’d third that. It took me a long time to figure that out.

Instead of a safe full of marginal firearms, I now have one high quality, very accurate big game rifle with a high quality scope. There’s nothing on the continent I would ever hunt that it wouldn’t work for, and I have supreme confidence in it

Sounds like a plan to me. I really don't care for the Axis, acccu-trigger or no, even though I have one. I also have no interest in a 308 so I would do some selling or trading with both.

I'm guessing the CM stands for creedmore. I don't know about any place else but factory ammo for the creed is the most plentiful thing on the shelf locally.

I've had rifles I really liked. I don't shoot centerfire rifles enough to really justify having any but I actually still like my 22-250 quite a bit. Getting rid of both is definitely an option, but probably wouldn't go toward another rifle. Just thought I'd keep one around since cost of ownership is minimal.

Changed to add another voting option.

I only voted to even them up at 1 apiece. Pick the one you dislike the least and keep it. Sell the other. Easy.

The 6.5 is the better cartridge. But for what you plan to do sell both. For punching paper an accurate bolt gun in 223 makes more sense. Ammo is cheaper and you have plenty for up to 600 yards punching paper and for varmints.

Happy to help lol.
I got the tools to do it if you need You're welcome to borrow them.
I don't have the gauges for the 6.5 though

These days, it seems like threads like these are a mental exercise and can be broken down pretty easy.

1. Do you want it?

2. Yes. No. I don’t know.

3. Keep it. Sell it. Buy it.

4. Return to #1.

Sell em both.
OP- do you like/ own leveractions?

Only bolt gun I have us in 357 mag. I don't care about bolt action rifles. I can't think of a reason I would shoot even 200 yards. My long range bottleneck whiz-bang is a 30-30. Just nowhere for me to shoot long range and it never interested me. But that's just my reality, yours will likely differ. I won't claim to be much of a rifleman , but for general use inside 100 yards I only need a 45-70. You must handload so you can get the full range of loads but it's like having a monstrous handgun, works for me.

I really appreciate the offer. I've got a buddy who's convinced he has a barrel wrench and action wrench somewhere. We'll see if he's able to find it. Gonna check with a guy that has a shop a couple towns away and see if he has the 6.5 gauges. If he does, I may just see if he wants to do it.

I've got one of the Marlin guide guns in 45-70...the stainless/laminate version. I don't have an opinion of it since I've had it 5 years and still 6 rounds left in the only box of ammo I've bought for it. Deer aren't fond of it though.

I like shooting rifles, but the limited yardage takes a lot of the fun out of it. It's more fun shooting .22's at the distances I have available.

I was at, well, just go ahead and say it, Walmart, and they have in the new Cascade bolt gun package rifles from CVA and had one in the new .350 Legend. The rifle looked and felt great, it had a Cerakote tan finish and camo glass reinforced stock and a threaded muzzle, nice scope and under $600. And I think the cartridge is a straight wall legal rifle. If the rifles you have cannot be used and you never intend to hunt elsewhere, sell both and buy one that can be used.
