Easy,

The SA 1911.....A Colt would be even better.

Simple, it is the platform I shoot best with. Rugged will last a very long time.

Since you didn't state the intended purpose of the handgun, I'll assume you're looking for a general purpose handgun. In that case, the Springfield Armory 1911 gives you a proven design built by a company that produces pistols that equal, or exceed, the quality of many "custom" producers without the premium price.

I voted for the FN. Without knowing what the pistol is for, that's the only one on the list I even like. I do not hold the SA Mil-Spec in as high regard as its fans do and would at least hold out saving for a basic Colt NRM.

G21 is ready to go from the box, whilst the 1911 would require a trip to the gunsmithing bench (mine or his) to get upgraded to the point I could use it.

Had a "Loaded" Springfield been in the list, I would've chosen that.

Springer!!

This one was easy - other than the FN, all your other choices are ... well .... not so good. (Just trying to be polite.)

The Springer 1911. I love 1911's, especially Colt and Springfield, and all mine have performed without a hiccup.

I picked the FNP-45. I've tried the first three in the list, and I have a Taurus PT1911. I really like the 1911 as a range pistol, but for a defensive pistol, the FNP-45 was the hands down winner to me (I also tried a few others - XD, M&P, HK). FN got just about everything right in their polymer hi-cap .45, and it fit my small hands much better then any of the others.

Choose for what purpose? But if you're asking, "for my one and only CCW & home defense pistol", then anything except the Glock is a decent choice; probably the Springfield or Taurus would be my choices on that list; honorable mention to FN or Mag. Research. FWIW, I have a Taurus 24/7 OSS-DS in .45 in the pickup truck.

Sleeper 45 ACP

The real sleeper in this list is the FNP- 45 , The boys over at Gunblast.com tested the FNP 45 and were surprised at the shooting ability of this gun. Lots of capacity in the double stack mag, and first rate accuracy. They commented that the gun thought it was a match pistol from the groups they got.

The FNP45 for quality, reliability, mag capacity, simple takedown, reasonable price, ergonomics. I'd take a HK45 over all of them though.

Gotta go with the Baby Eagle. I love the one I've got. Probably the most accurate pistol I've ever used.

That said, I like the other choices as well with the exception of the Taurus and Glock.

Reasons: Taurus just isn't as good as the others IMHO and I hate the way Glocks feel; just personal preference there. Glocks are well built, I just don't like them.

Chose the Baby Eagle because I'm interested in a CZ type .45, but would probably rather get the Witness.

thanks for all the responces i didnt give a reason because i wanted it to be more of a blind choice that way theres no bickering that "model a is better than model b" i just wanted a nice opinion without the usual "that model wont work at all for that"

i didnt mention XDs because i am not a big fan of them but if thats what you like more power to you

as for either of the XD40s if you guys didnt notice everything on the list is a .45ACP
so if you make a suggestion thats not on the list please lets keep em .45s
