Been looking for a 9mm for CC. I think I have things narrowed down to M&P Shields, M&P9 compact, and Springfield XD compact. I have shot them all, and they all feel good when I shoot them. Anybody have any experience with any of these, I really need some input, as I have no clear favorite. Thanks

I have fired all 3 and own the XDs. The m&p compact was too thick for me to carry. The shield was good but at the time they didn't offer one wiyhout a safety and I didn't like it so I bought (and quickly sold) a Walther pps before settling on the xds. Once year later I had a chance to shoot my xds side by side with a shield and preferred the recoil management and shorter grip/longer barrel of the xds. Just personal preference. The shield was nice but I found no reason to change horses.

Glock 43 .....

If you can wait a few months, Id consider the new Glock 43 9x19mm. It's small, light weight, easy to carry or modify(night sights, parts, etc). Give it some time for the rush & any bugs or glitches to be fixed.
I own a M&P Shield no thumb safety. It's a 9x19mm. I have no real complaints or problems with my 9mm. The only gripe is that the Shield can't get the magazine release converted. I'm left handed & like ambi mag releases or levers-buttons that can be quickly switched. ;)
Shields like the Glock series have a lot of after market stuff & finding decent holsters or gear is not a big problem.
Another sub compact I find well made is the new S-A XD mod 02. It's well engineered & can take larger XD magazines in a pinch. I like the .40S&W version but that's more of a wish list gun than a requirement.
Many gunners like the SIG P290RS DAK(DA only) & the Walther CCP or PPS in 9mm.

This one comes down to personal choice. If you are referring to the XDs, I’ve shot all three and had likes and dislikes with each.

The XDs has the best trigger of the three and I like the grip safety on a striker fired carry gun. But the grip checkering was a tad aggressive for my taste.

I like the full three finger grip on the Shield with the 8 round magazine option. But I am not crazy about S&W triggers.

The M&Pc is larger than the other two but has the extra capacity to warrant the increase in size and weight. I found the grip to be as comfortable as the Shield and maybe a tad more comfortable and controllable due to the extra thickness. A friend of mine is slight of frame and stature and conceals an M&Pc in an outside the waistband holster quite easily.

No bad choices here. Or, like someone else suggested, you could wait for the G43 to come out...... and get a gun basically the same size as the Shield with less capacity. Such a deal!

Plan2live, my experiences are similar. I really liked the xds but would buy a rubber grip sleeve to offset the aggressive grip. I found very little difference between the 2 S&W pistols as far as comfort, do like the added capacity of M&P compact. I' mnot a big guy, 5'4", 180, and my hands are small with short fat fingers, but the xtra width of the compact is no issue. Around here shields is $400, M&P compact $529, both come w/2 mags, right now S&W is giving 3 xtra mags free with M&P compact.

Pick up the shield and never look back. I love mine so much I want to buy a second to have a few decades from now.

Any of them could work for you as they are very reliable. That said, "Gun Tests" magazine recently gave the XDs the "BEST" in their review of small light 9mm CCW.

I'm eating a fair amount of crow, but I prefer the single stack nine over a compact/double stack subcompact for daily carry. The thicker the gun, the more I have to dress around it, the more likely I'll leave it at home.

I would pick the Shield without thumb safety of the choices. I picked the Beretta Nano because I wanted a very melted and comfortable slim 9.

All of the guns you listed are winners though.

Of the three choices I would go with the Shield. Would also consider the new Glock 43.

:confused::confused::confused::confused: yet you would suggest it anyhow? :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

This past Sunday at our club, my wife shot her Glock 42 and her LC9s. After maybe 50 rounds through each gun, she calmly declared the 42 was OK, but the LC9s was her hands-down choice for carry.

We both have one, and they have proven to be very reliable and very precise as to shot placement when we do our part. We like 'em!

Glock 43? As much as it surprises us both, absolutely no interest; we have what we want. Funny thing, the LC9s Pro interests us both but we likely won't buy any... we say.

I don't understand the response in post #10.
If the Glock 43 9mm works out and it's a big seller, then fine.
But many new guns or designs have minor flaws or problems.
Glock's 42 .380acp had a few tweeks & design changes.
The Ruger SR9 9mm was recalled with trigger-safety issues. It's now well liked and Ruger sells a lot of them.
The S-A XDs had a factory recall as did the S&W Shield.
Short barrel pistols and sub compacts can have problems. If the forum member waits a few months he or she can avoid the hassles if the new/first version 43s aren't well made.

I carry an XDs and like it. It feels like quality, carries easily, shoots well, and besides going back for the safety recall, has presented no problems.

I've handled the XDm 3.8, and liked it. It felt better in my hand than any M&P gun, so I vote for the XDm I guess.

If I have to wait around for a new design to be tweaked and bugs worked put, I would say the heck with it and buy a snubby that will not need any tweaks.

Good snubs ....

A light easy to carry Ruger LCR .38spl +P can ride the river. ;)
A snub Charter Arms .44spl DA only(spur less) 5 shot can do very well too.

Picked up my M&P 9 compact today. Found one for $499, S&W running a promo, getting 3 extra mags free, did not apply to shield models. Shop where I bought it had a range, ran 250 rounds thru it before I came home, ran like a sewing machine! Thanks for your input.
