Both rings have great reputations. The rifle is a Springfield and the scope will have a 1" tube and be in the 3-9x40 range.

I like the ability of the Burris Signatures to compensate for the receiver and/or the base being out of alignment with the barrel. However, these are nowhere near being quick release.

I like the ability of the Warnes to come off with the throw of a lever and allow the use of iron sights (the scope base sits low enought to allow this).

So which would you guys choose?

I am not interested in the ARMS throw lever mounts that attach the rings to the base. That will just added complexity to the system, weight to the gun, height to the scope, and cost to the budget.

Low Warne QD. and a butt-mounted aftermarket cheek-rest.

Low because with a gen3 mount, or similar, the scope is going to be too high to get a good cheek-weld with the stock, so med. or high rings don't help; there's still plenty of room for a big bell.

Don't have 'em on an M1A, but I have the Warnes. They work as advertised: you can pop them on and off, and the scope holds its zero. Good rings.

^I shoulda said that too. M1A does well with irons...no need to invest a bunch of wampum.

Now, my afterthough i came back to say: If it's a Standard and not a Loaded, etc. I'd look into the ultimak scout/squad forward rail. (with warne rings)....that way you can still use the irons and a stripper clip if so inclined. The gen3-type scoperails preclude the use of irons; and do not center the scope above the action/center of the rifle, but a little off to the left side...might be fine if you're a righty and not into symmetry; but i'm a lefty and sent that scope-rail straight back for a full refund.

So in short:
Front rail with warne qd rings and a 2-7 or 3-9x gets my vote.
