So I would like to get a better sling for my match rifle, the current sling came with my Tikka but I don't really like it. It is a nylon rig that loops over your bicep. The problem is the nylon is really slick, and to tighten it enough so it doesn't slip really cuts off the 'ole circulation. I'd like a sling, that can be easily adjusted to 'preset points' (unlike my present sling) so when I go from sitting to prone I can rapidly switch it.
Thanks,

For a Match rifle sling, I don't think any of us will know. The first place I'd suggest would be to go to the forums at www.floridashooting.com and ask those guys. Make sure you specify Match Rifle.

You could look through the catalog at www.njguns.com for a good selection. I think I got the nylon strap, rubber cuff sling from Thune and it's great. A good cuff sling won't slip on you, but most don't have settings. You'll have to find your spots and mark them.

Jensen 2inch across the course sling. I bought one back in 1994 or 95 and used it for three solid years of bolt gunning. It is an excellent sling of the highest quality. I am sure Creedmore sells them too.

I have been away from the match rifle for about 4 years so there is better slings on the market by now I am sure, but the Jensen would seem hard to upgrade on.

The Field's sling or a variation thereof is pretty common. The other viable option that is common to the firing line is the Jensen "Cuff" type sling. The latter seems better suited to those assuming a lower position however.

A fellow my the name of John Homatas is offering a Field's type sling with a precision turnbuckle, micro-adjust feature should you desire to tighten/loosen your sling while in position. He can be reached at [email protected] Remove the NOSPAM obviously.

Otherwise, post your question to www.natlmatch.com
