Which Small 9mm To Get? Down to 3 Choices...

Out of the three, I would go with the Glock Model 26.
For me, Glocks are more accurate and reliable than the XD series.

Another subcompact 9x19mm handgun, you should consider is the Kahr Arms PM-9.

My vote is for the Glock. i had an XD9SC up until about 2 weeks ago, and I just didn't like it. It's high bore axis made it very top heavy.

Here's a comparison photo:

See how much higher the top of the slide is on the XD?

I don' recall hearing anything bad about any of the ones mentioned throughout this thread - Glock26, XD9SC, or M&P. At the end of the day pick what feels best to you (one of these or others), shoot them before you buy (if you can) and I am sure you will be very happy with whichever you decide.

The bore axis comparison may be an valid, but if we are talking about millimeters of difference, I am not sure how that would override proper hand grip etc. But I'd rather leave that discussion to those who can do the math:confused:.

Some may carry better than others (IWB for instance), so that could be a consideration for you.

Have a great weekend all.

Glock 26

When picking a pistol for self defense, the pure job description "Self Defense"
says it all.
Concealing/shooting accuracy/on board capacity, so take the with extension, and without on the magazine, reference accuracy.
At seven yards, no difference in accuracy, none, with half your fingers hanging off the end (one hand shooting) feels weird as heck, but no difference in accuracy than with the extension. So ankle holster is just fine.

One of my co-workers, Security Officer, Carry's the twenty six as his on duty gun, it fits all his old Glock holsters! no hang stuff on the rail extra bit, and the G17 magazine I gave him as a spare beats the wee baby ten rounder he had.

In running a few of the old Black Talon WW rounds through my G26, they averaged just over 1000 FPS, the best being 1026 FPS, and quite an impressive profile in the ballistic Gel.

I watched Chris Edwards (with a G26) of Glock, shoot the top score in a IALEFI Annual Training Conference a few years ago, awesome! over 200 firearms instructors from all over the World taking part (including yours truly!) I shot my G17, he cleaned our clocks. He did not win the match, as an industry rep he was not eligible, just shot for interest sake, he still out-shot us never the less!

Not bad for a pistol that can fit in a on belt camera case.

Too bad you have to carry it in a belt camera case...cuz it's waaaaayyyy too wide: read thick...for IWB carry. I mean, really, it gives Block a bad name.

I mean, come on, just compare the ultra wide G26 magazine compared to the slim, trim Kahr mag:

Well, finally had off today and checked out the XD9 Sub comp. It was nice, but was just too "bulky" overall. Couldn't get into the feel of it. Tried a rental as well, 100rnds later, I still didn't really like it. I handled the MP 9C as well, no rental available for it yet, and it may be in my future. I went to the range today with a group of friends, one of whom was selling a Kahr CW9. I put 100rnds through it and loved the thing. It's by far pretty much exactly what I've been looking for but had overlooked Kahr entirely. I picked it up with an IWB holster and 4 mags for a decent price. He was selling a few of his guns due to a recent divorce and lawyer fees, etc. I also bought a Sigma 9VE in the deal too (not sure what I'm going to do with it). Not too bad either way. The Kahr will complement my SW 642 for summer time carry and it's super thin.

How did you overlook Kahr? SEVERAL people recommended them, including myself in the fifth post of YOUR thread.
