New Handgun- which one would you buy?

Anyone have an opinion about the Browning Hi Power?

They're near the top of my favorite 9mms list. Mine have been great. I used to CCW one but stopped for some reason. I'd carry again without hesitation.

I feel the BHP is one of the most ergonomically comfortable and natural pointing handguns there is; I'd say the same about the CZ 75.

While it's not on your list, I would recommend that you at least give some thought -- if not a good, hard look -- to the Walther P99. It's the real deal, IMO. A range visit would prove that out in short order.

Get the Sig P229. You'll get used to the decocker, and since shot placement is king, the accuracy of the 229 should win out in the decision.

Then get a SA XD9sc with a Pearce grip extension. You'll be impressed. Believe it or not, it's the first gun that I say competes with, or bests a G19 as the ultimate carry gun.

As you buy and sell other guns, you'll find these two are keepers.

Why would a Sig 2022 be on your list since you already owned one according to your list? HK,CZ or Beretta/Stoeger 8000

out of your choices I'd pick up a Sig P226, 229, or the XDM. See if you can find a refurbed or used Sig. That'll run ya cheaper than the XDM will if you look hard enough. I would, though, ditch the XDM and pick a Glock back up instead. Call it fanboyism, but I'm too used to mine to move on with a "better" striker-fired handgun.

Okay- I have narrowed it down a little more according to what I can find in my local area:
Glock 19 RTF2- $489 new
XD w/ night sites- $545 new
XDM 3.8 Bi tone- $599 new
Sig P229 w/ night sites- $750 new
What do you think?

I ended up buying a Sig P229 SCT 9mm with four 18 round mags. I won the auction for it new for $675! I am so excited to get it and shoot it this week.

I agree with some of the other responders about the M&P. You obviously loved the M&P, less the love for the lack of warranty. Get a new M&P .40 and drop the new Apex sear into it. Makes the trigger very smooth with a nice reset. Best part is the 5.5lb +/- trigger pull. Apex is now also selling a new firing pin block which further smooths the trigger with less travel. I have yet to install the FPB. My M&P 9C is a different gun with the new sear and I really like it. Just my 2 cents.

Needless to say, I sold the Kimber and bought a 9mm.

You had a Kimber & you were worried about the price of ammo...:banghead:

I bought my first handgun (Ruger KP90) last November & had a Lee Classic press at Christmas. Wasn't so much the price as being able to get any .45ACP at all.
Primers can be as tough to find as .45ACP (but easier than .357).

As for your question, there are really only two NEW guns I'd consider, being a broke retired squid. Either a Rock Island Armory .45 Tactical or Bersa Thunder .380. Plastic pistols hold no interest for me at all.

What I'm REALLY looking for is a S&W M19 in excellent condition...;)
