I've been shooting hard cast, but am thinking of trying some swaged 158 gr lswchp's for my snubs (m10/m19). I can't find Remingtons, so I'm trying to decide between Speer, Hornady, and perhaps Zero, which are lubed more like a hard-cast bullet. My intent is to load them in the 800+ fps range. Please chime in if you have experience with these, or any other brands that you like. Thanks, and happy new year!

People here seem to like the Speer SWCHP. I concur. You can get a 500 pack of them for cheap.

Haven't tried the Zero SWCHP's. Remington doesn't make their LHP's available for reloading (which sucks....)

Rim Rock bullets makes Buffalo Bore's LSWCHP which is dead soft if you want to check those out, but they are expensive at 100 for $18.95 + $15.00 shipping.

The Speers gum up my presses for some reason. I prefer the dry lube on the Hornadys, which is clean in the press and also in the gun.

I've shot a lot of the Roze SWCHP and they shoot well with little to no leading.

I can't vouch for their expansion as I've only shot them at paper. Only bought the HP because they cost the same as the non-HP swaged bullet. But I can tell you the bullet is not as soft as the Remington LSWCHP.

I love Missouri's .357 Action bullets (18 bhn?) and I load them from soft, with a little leading, to full-house, with none. Thought I'd branch out a try something different. Thanks for the responses.

I've not use the Remington bullets but have used the Speer and Hornady brands. I prefer the Hornady above the Speer. They are cleaner and more accurate in my handguns. Below 900 fps I get no leading at all from Hornady 158gr LSWC/HP bullets.

I buy 158 grain swaged hollow points made by Magnus Bullets from midsouthshootersupply. The bullet number is either 505 or 515, I don't remember which. Mostly I just cast my own bullets for .38's but I like the swaged bullets for HD.

Bullets

Rim Rock Bullets Inc. does make the .44 SWC-HP g/c 240 gr. cast lead bullet for Buffalo Bore but it is not made of dead soft lead. It's made with a mix of antimony that has a BHN of about 12. The .38 158 gr. SWC-HP g/c however is made of almost dead soft lead. thank the Rim Rock Kid:)
