i've been doing some browsing and i've come across several threads talking about corrosive bullets and moly bullets and the different ways they ruin a rifle... am i safe with all major american brands of .30-06... what brands of ammo should i be wary of? the only gun i own is a .30-06 so thats all i'm really worried about at the moment.. any info would be greatly appreciated...

Any American Brand Name ammo will float your boat! Winchester, Remington, Federal, Hornaday ETC. All are non corrosive and come in a broad range of projectiles, suitable from varmits to Big Bears.

Some military hard ball ammo is corrosive, the best buy for ball ammo is currently sold by the Civilian Marsmanship Program (CMP) 480 rds for $110 plus shipping. It is Greek surplus, non corrosive and accurate for hard ball.

+1 for the greek surplus.

Save your brass after your done shooting it and then pick up a reloading kit and you're in business for a good long time. :)
