I loaded fifty rounds of my .45 Xtra Short last week with the Sierra 185gr. JHP bullet and 9.0 grs HS-6. Now the 185 gr. Sierra bullet is a pretty wicked bullet on varmints within range. I figured my load would be in the vicinity of 950 f.p.s. or so. Not a screaming speed, but respectable.
I shot half of these today, shooting at ten yards they grouped very well and shot very pleasantly, minimum recoil in my Ruger. As expected they were low, about 2 1/2" low at ten yards, my gun being sighted in with the 200 gr. cast RNFP at around 850 f.p.s.
Sorry I didn't get photos yet, but that short cartridge with that BIG hollow cavity is one wicked looking round!
