Does anyone have any actual experience with these AR's? Not really interested in your preconceived thoughts because they used to be someone else. Looking for actual knowledge on this firearm and it's quality!

The reason I am asking is Academy has them for $750.00 with no sights carbine. I was looking at the Stag 3 but they are out of stock!

It's essentially an old Bushmaster (pre-Freedom Group). I looked at one at Academy too and it appeared to be a good setup for the money.

As 68wj said. They are really just an old Bushmaster. Same owner, same machinery, a lot of the same staff from what I understand. In other words there is far better out there for the money.

These are the former Bushmaster folks, after Freedom Group shut down the Bushmaster factory, the former owner re-opened it, hired back a bunch of the employees, and renamed it. I saw the Academy ad, and thought it was a pretty good deal for the price.

In that price range:
Spikes
PSA
S&W

While I am not a big fan of any of those they are leaps and bounds better than anything BM ever put out and WW is showing to be pretty much the same as Bushmaster.

Or alternatively save up another month and get a Colt, BCM, DD, or LMT.

I'm not a huge Bushmaster fan (new or old) but here's a lil info we found out.

Remmington bought Bushamaster. Then laid everyone off and moved production, essentially closing the manufactoring plant. We all know what haas happened to Remmington and what they've done quality wise to other gun companies they've bought.(think marlin) The same happened to Bushmaster. Old maan Whindham (the prior owner of Bushmaster) was not happy with any of these facts. He purchased the old facility back and re-employed some 200 Aamericans that were laid off by Remmington.

I know they are not the greatest out there, but I think the actions of Mr. Whindham deserve consideration. No they are not combat rifles, but the ones I have held, field stripped and inspected seem up to snuff for you average civillian shooter.

I have had waaaayyyy more problems out of Spikes than I have had from old Bushys. Only problem I can recall from a Bushmaser is how tight their barrels were. This only comes into play if you ever had to remove the barrel.

Now before I get busted I will admit my tax refund just got be a BCM 11.5" upper in a VLTOR VIS. (I have been accused of being an AR brand whore :)

I cannot speak to most of the facts in the last post but Windham is the town, not the man. I am buying one because as a casual shooter my bushmaster was fine and I live two towns away so I HAVE to buy one :)

I had a major brain fart Richard Dyke is "ol man Windham" lol sorry bout that folks Don't know why I had the name "Bob Windham" stuck in my head. Is thata famous name?

Eta: I see I've already been corrected.

Ever heard of Blackjack Mulligan? :D

I live in Maine, and work not too far from the factory, but yes, it is essentially Bushmaster, in fact, they're the original Bushmaster. Bushmaster moved their manufacturing to another state a year ago, and the former original owner caught wind of this and opened "Windham Weaponry" hiring all the employees that were laid off. So you're getting a good quality weapon for a lower price. If I were you, I wouldn't hesitate purchasing one. It shouldn't be too long until they raise their prices in regards to popularity.

I'm thinking awfully hard about getting one of their rifles, if I go the M4 route. They are planning to add 20in uppers later this year as well.

I bought one. Poor image quality, but it looks like a plain ol' AR. I've got a Rock River and a Colt SP-1, but I wanted a shorty plinker. The WW seems to fit the bill. I haven't had it that long, so I haven't shot it much. It goes *bang* and holds a decent group with the Aimpoint, so I'm not sure what more to expect out of it.

To be honest, I'm not much of an AR fan, so I'm not up on the all the ins and outs of the AR world and what supposedly makes one brand better than another. I get some of it, but there are about a bazillion different AR manufacturers out there and I can't be bothered to keep track lol. I happened to read about how the company got started and, as a small business guy myself, felt that was deserving of a little respect and a chance to try their product. It has a good warranty. If there is something specific you want to know about it, I'll try to take a pic or give you my impressions. I've been meaning to do a range report, but I had a bone graft and am one-armed for the time being.

How would a standard M4 like that work as a coyote rile... I know a HBAR would be a better choice, but if I use good optics on a standard M4 such as the WW I will be buying, will it suffice as is?

I use a 14.5 inch Noveske for this purpose. It is more than sufficient. with my old 16 inch the longest shot I made was just under 300 yards. I am sure I could do the same with this one.

It does the same thing with an Eotech. No problems with the first 500 or so rounds of 193.

Bought it for the house since the wife is recoil adverse - so bringing a 12Ga upstairs is out - and she wanted something for social work when I travel. Figured as a worse case she could do accuracy by volume, but it seems to be working out pretty well. She's happy, so I'm happy.

their barrels will be MIL-B-11595E instead of their standard 4150 blanks according to a rep i spoke with. thats not the same if im not mistaken.

they get a bad rap around here but the ones ive owned have been the most reliable rifles,,, no, strike that, the most reliable firearms ive ever seen. 2 currently approaching 25000 rounds between them, ran hard as hell for the last 6000-8000 rounds and yet to have a single stop of any kind between them. both are 16" hbars, and both are considerably better than 1 m.o.a.
