Looking into having an SPR type custom AR built with some of their components.....anyone have any feedback on their stuff? How are the barrels (I believe made by Wilson?) and uppers? Thanks in advance.

I don't have any personal experience with them yet, but try searching for that name, and especially for John Holliger, here and in the Competition forum. The Masters seem to like his work.

John is a good friend of mine now and a great AR smith. You won't be disappointed with his work. He offers most all of the premium barrels and will custom chamber them for you. Yes, he also offers a Wilson barrel at a reduced cost if you need to save a few bucks.

I don't know if making an SP1 is high on his priority list, considering his job is making match uppers. Never hurts to call though.

Oops, you said SPR!

MSTN also charges approx. $2600 for just the upper :uhoh:
Complete authenticity isnt worth a $1400 premium to me.

Thanks for the feedback folks. Looks like I'll be using a White Oak barrel.

White Oak doesn't make barrels.

White Oak is a smith company, operated by John Holliger. He cuts and chambers barrels for you, either Kreiger, Shilen, Pac-Nor, Border, Obermeyer, Wilson, or what have you, OR he can buy a pre-chambered Wilson and install it, but John at this time isn't boring and cutting rifling.

Again, no such thing as a WOP or WOA barrel.

Hmm....interesting....

Here is exactly what I'm looking at Steve. It's actually made buy "White Oak Armament: A division of White Oak Precision". Bottom right, SPR barrel assembly. Maybe it's just a new product? According to Adco, they are made from Wilson blanks.

John is now using Adco as a vendor of sorts. The upper is amongst his line of "production" quality uppers, which is funny because they are far and above the quality of a real production house, but his custom uppers are even nicer, and have a premium barrel like the ones I listed. The one you're looking at should come with a Wilson blank. John cuts the chamber on these barrels.
