Well guys, our latest season in the sun is over. John has stopped doing the RRA upgrades because he feels that the RRA quality has dropped to much to continue them.
As many of you know, John Holliger primarily builds custom level Service and Match Rifle competition AR uppers. As a benefit to new shooters he would upgrade RRA uppers by buying them as parts, thouroughly inspecting them, upgrading whatever they lacked, and putting it together with great care. You'd get a nearly custom gun for a pittance.
John has told me that he has recently had to send a great deal of parts back to RRA due to poor quality and has stopped the upgrade process for now. He is looking for a new supplier, or may begin making his own parts and spec out an upper from a forge direct. Time will tell.
For those of you who have one of John's RRA upgrades, rest assured that John will not send out a gun if it doesn't meet is (very) stringent quality standards. Be happy that you got one while they were available.
