White River primers showing up in the wild.

And don't leave out D&M Holdings, which seem to be part of this whole mess as well, their website and hosting are all done by the same as White River...and they used the same template for both. D&M put itself out there as a turn key "let us set you up in the ammunition industry" company.

Solus? You are a curmudgeon aren't you, lol. Out of the hundreds of distros out there, and you landed on Solus (smh).
I’ve tried them all and Solus runs the best/plays the nicest on that old, crusty HP. I also use boot keys for TAILS sometimes if I want to use Darknet paths and encrypted VPN. Our corporate VPN filters “gun-related” sites. :(. I use an iPad sometimes and the NetBook other times. The Budgy interface was written for Solus, BTW. ;)

On topic, I’d imagine (but can’t prove) the sales and marketing is going slower than the build-up because advertising is $$$$$!! WAY more expensive than machines and people.

The company still has more questions than answers surrounding it. By this point, the ownership and financing has become so convoluted there is no telling what ground truth it. It's starting to remind me of Ft Smith primers and Fedarms and those shenanigans. That's still embroiled in lawsuits, and even has a touch of eastern european organized crime involvement. I'm just sitting here wishing somebody could make drama free quality primers and get them to me at .03 ea.

I’m afraid to ask about ft smith primers.

Hornady was making primers their line blew up, killing an employee.

SIG was supposedly going to start making their own, Fiocchi USA, too; which would relieve the pressure on the commodity market and free up Vista for reloaders.

Try Linux Mint, the high performance, stripped down, "race" version for speed - https://www.linuxmint.com/download.php

It will make older machines run like newer machines ... I ga ... ron ... tee :)
Gee thanks. I write code and build operating systems for a living. :)
Been working with *Nix OS’s since about 1984.
Mint is derived from Ubuntu, which is derived from the Deb kernel (we don’t talk about Ian anymore =o )
Solus is a built kernel based on Ikey’s original EvolveOS.
If you really want skinny, run TAILS. It’s also built on Deb but is stripped down to bear threads. It runs nicely on a SoC.

Geebus, what does all that even mean?^^^. Thank you.

I'm a little bit later than you....early 90s, learned Solaris and HP-UX in the Army, and turned it into a career. I think the first Linux I used at home was Slackware, when you had to download floppy disk images and it was still using IIRC the 1.x kernel. I used Slack for a very long time, then switched to Gentoo about 20 years ago. Now I'm too old to tinker, so will problem just move to Kubuntu when it's time to upgrade my desktop. Of course, my paycheck comes from RHEL and Kali, but I'm not a huge fan of either of those...they do pay the bills though. I've never ran windows on anything for my personal use, too limiting and irritating. Solus always seems to be on the cusp of dissapearing, and I never cared for it's pkg manager, and you're the first person I've ever met actually using it, which is interesting to here you say how much you like it. If you want speed on old hardware...gentoo is your buddy. Install is a pain, but it's a one time deal. I've been using the same install for over 20 years, just tar it up, move to new hardware, chroot and recompile. Since you compile every package, you can tune the flags and even really old hardware can run amazingly fast.

But I digress. I'm really wanting White River to be legit and capable of growing. Vista needs more US competition, and Winchester primers seem to be going downhill quality wise. While I have no problems using imported primers, I would way much rather by US. I am especially interested in trying the WR Large Rifle primers at some point.

It means WRE is making primers but they’re more expensive than the cheap stuff from Argentina and Bosnia.

I have high hopes for the machinery they’re using but it might not make that big a difference to most of today’s handloaders. Next gen stuff, fer shur.
Group THR buy--a primer company.

@Mark_Mark can be the PA North West director, @Soonerpesek midwest director, gonna need a complete Texas committee with all the McKinney guys.

@AJC1 can run Georgia field office if he can find time.

Sorry, no @Walkalong he'd be like a grownup.

You and I can be the heart of the company.

From what I’ve read about the machinery and it’s operations, it’s the kind of setup a company like RMR could stick in an out-building with a single operator and turn out enough primers for a boutique ammo side-business if they wanted to add it to their liability insurance for a nominal profit boost. Maybe once the legal disputes are over we’ll see exactly that happening but, in the meantime, WRE is trucking along with a question mark in their future. If they sold LPP/LPMP for less than Federals (I get those for $79/k OTD locally but it’s an hour drive each way) then I’d try them. I’m not bothered by having to adapt for oddball components.

No, Free BSD for the win!

Just kidding. :) You are good. 👍

I still stand by my post. ;)

OK, back to OP of White River Energetics primers.

If the trail of lawsuits and public-holdings documents I found are accurate (and my research abilities are open to scrutiny) it seems like WRE is using equipment designed for SIGArms USA which allows anyone capable of forming a coherent sentence (sorry @Mark_Mark ) to open up a “primer factory.” Pre-mix primer compound, paper tape, and brass strips go in one end and finished primers come out the other. The design is ingenious. The engineer who came up with it was contracted by SIGArms but seems to have gone rogue. “Seems” because there are lawsuits involved and both sides have legitimate claims. I did all of my research using Goggle and an old HP NetBook running Solus Linux on a slow WiFi connection so take the above with a grain of salt-lick. Your results may vary.

Well that seems to be key ... "Pre-mix primer compound". I wonder if they make their own in-house or buy it in bulk somewhere. I know there are people buying the tools to reload primers but often with a corrosive potassium chlorate mix. But if they could buy it by the pound in a damp peanut butter state ... they'd be rolling.

I wonder if they might have started out shipping overseas (NZ) to stay below the radar in the US. But the lure of a dime a primer in our market finally got to them so they've dipped a toe in.

I grabbed 3K SP to test out. I wish I could get 5K of the LP version that RMR is out of currently. I've got too many LR primer on hand to bother with their LR offering.

You can visit the FedArm website...you'll get a pop up with the law suit filing, lol. Great reading....ought to be made into a movie.

Wow ... that's quite the list of pilfered stuff. It's not like you can drop a Haas CNC in the bed of your F-150 and drive off. Plus ... many an NFA firearm on that list. Their site shows them selling LP primers for $700/5K ... made in 2018/19. Must be that quality "Fort Smith" brand that gets a premium.

What a cluster that situation is.

Isn’t that the truth

What does English Grammar gotta do with making good Primers! 😂 ask the Italian Guys!
Now, you see, there’s a perfect example: I write, “…anyone capable of forming a coherent sentence…” and you read, “… use proper English grammar…”. I’ve read the documentation for Fiocchi’s reloading manual and I can attest to the fact that those fellows can most definitely form coherent sentences. And whether it be in Italian, English or any other language, coherence is essential for communication.

TL/DR: well duh. 🙄

That’s what mine said. But I’ll warn you, taking up the “Handy Nanny” mantle is tougher. Two year old twins are not as easy to handle as a grunt that smells like drinking! And they don’t leave any time for the handyman stuff!

Maybe y’all need a northern rep? Hours on the road talking to curmudgeonly gun guys that won’t use anything but CCI sounds better than the potty training that’s the current agenda…😂

And, as they’ve kept me running ragged, with the other four, I completely missed this facet of the ongoings on. I about made a thread on it when I saw the new company on @LiveLife ’s awesome reloading updates, til I did a search.

(Nice, now it won’t paste it.) It was along the lines of…
A New Primer Company!
SHHHhhhh! Don’t tell @Mark_Mark ! He’ll never let us live it down!

But, he’s not like that anyway. He’s one of the good ones, spelling not withstanding.😉

I’m just hoping for competition. These aren’t inflated rates, they’re exorbitant! I think I’ve forgttten what H-110 smells like! I haven’t shot my DW in over a year!😵‍💫

No clue they didn’t just start making LRPs right out of the gate.

So great more SPP for me to walk past.
White River makes large rifle too. I help a friend out at local gun shows, and he’s been able to get them. They are actually intended for the OEM market, and he has a small ammo manufacturing company, but they are being sold over the counter by people who can get them. Prices are around the same as other brands, but availability is getting better.

I get that part—for some strange reason I read forums in NZ and AU discussing these primers.

But a question that rattles around in my addled brain is “why?” Why would a startup primer mfr in Des Arc, Arkansas which has essentially no distribution in Arkansas and only Ohio in the USA, send such a precious item 10000 miles away across the globe instead of just across the street?
You can buy all the WRE primers you like at Garths Hardware in Des Arc, probably a truck load if you wanted.
