Saw this on the used rack. Nice looking bolt action .270, looked like a mauser type action. Wood stocked, nice bluing- reminded me of the rifles I'd see on the racks when I was younger. Price was right near $400. Have never heard of Whitfield before, any opinions on them?

Whitworths are Yugoslavian Mauser Actions with finish and proofs in England. They can have some sharp edges but when the wear in or are smoothed out they are about as sweet as you can get. They are highly recomended. Now some of the Mark X actions were Santa Barabara Spain actions and were finished in Spain. I believe all Whitworths were Yugo made actions and finshed in England with English proofs.
I have heard that in the later years Interarms bought the Yugo Barreled actions and put them in Italian made stocks in US and the were branded Whitworth also. You should be able to find Manchester England on it somewhere if it was earlier one finished in England.
