Whitney Wolverine

I had one. Very interesting pistol. Looked like something out of Buck Rogers.
Mine was accurate and reliable. The hype about the way it fits your hand is true - mine was a pleasure to shoot. The original rear sights were just two rounded humps of metal. They worked but they weren't much to look at. Looks like the new model has better rear sights. The only downside to the original Whitney was that it had several tiny parts that leapt from the gun during disassembly. Someone from this forum suggested that the first time I took it apart, to do so inside a pillow case. I used a trash bag and it was good advice. Didn't lose any parts. Eventually figured out where everything went. You can still buy parts for the original at reasonable prices from several sources.

The add specifies high-velocity 22lr. I wonder if that means you have to use Stingers or the like for it to function properly? I'll have to visit their booth at the next WAC (Washington Arms Collectors) show to get the scoop on these. I'm happy with my Ruger Mark II but the unique look of these has me hankering for another rimfire.

Never owned one but remember hankering after one about 1959. Wound up going with Ruger .22 autopistols but always thought they were neat little guns. Will see what the American Rifleman writeups look like and go from there.

Colors might be nice...

I first saw one in the early 60’s when I was about 10 years old. A family friend let me shoot it and I was in LUV! It handled well (at least from a 10 yr olds perspective) and was the neatest thing I had ever seen.
Dienekes - Will see what the American Rifleman writeups look like and go from there.
Same here. If the quality is there I may just get one so I can be the coolest kid on the block.

The Olympic Arms Whitney Wolverine is built with a high-strength polymer frame making it lightweight and durable. The pistol uses .22 LR high-velocity ammunition and is fed to the pistol through an all metal magazine which holds ten rounds.

The original wasn't actually much of a pistol, and from the sound of it, this one's not going to be any improvement. That saidâ„¢, it's probably going to be a better pistol than the Ruger Mark III.
