Just received a nice Whitney Wolverine (.22 semi auto pistol) as a gift. I had never heard of one let alone laid eyes on one. Here's my possibly futile question. Does anyone know of a source for an owner's manual or disassembly/assembly instructions? Thanks.

No, but try Harley Nolden's Institute For Firearms Research further down the home page. He has bunches of data like that and may be able to help. If not, post again, and I will try to walk you through it. Anyone who thinks a Ruger .22 pistol is too hard to disassemble should try a Wolverine.

BTW, disassemble inside a pillowcase or something; small parts under spring tension tend to disappear fast!

What a terrific item! FYI...the late Colonel Rex Applegate felt that this pistol had the best barrel/grip angle for "pointability". During WWII he was tasked with preparing operatives for service with minimal time for handgun training, and had to rely on simple, reflexive techniques.

Thanks for info and help. Managed a minor disassembly on it. You're right. Small part immediately popped loose from the top of the bolt assembly but I found it. Unfortunately, I was premature in thinking it was pristine. Looks were deceiving. The part of the bolt you grasp to pull it back and cock the pistol is cracked in two down where it screws onto the bolt. Looks like it's the only pot metal on the pistol. So much for my dreams of a fine curiosity. Now I'll be looking for a source for spare parts or a new tube of J. B. Weld.

The last time I checked, Gun Parts Corp had a number of Whitney parts.

Every few years somebody announces the reintroduction of a new Whitney pistol. The last time I heard this, it was Olympic Arms.
