Who builds AK47 krinkovs

Depending on how you are wanting it built, there are many professional builders.

It doesn't have to be built as an NFA weapon, if it has a permanently affixed muzzle device that makes the barrel length 16" or if it's built as a pistol.

If you're not having it built as an NFA weapon,

Will at RedStick Firearms is good

Ken at Global Military Gunsmithing does a excellent work, also.

I really appreciate everybody answering so promptly. I just bought an Arsenal Inc. AK47 and put a Krebs peep sight on it. That helped a lot. I also have 2 IMI Galils pre-ban and like the AK format, I'm just not thrilled with the 5.56 round for stopping power or penetration though any type of barrier. A Krinkov in 7.62 would make a great house sweeper.

Moose458,

Just in case you didn't already know, in addition to the 5.56 krink they are currently building (http://www.arsenalinc.com/slr106ur.htm), Arsenal Inc. is also supposed to be making a limited run of milled receiver 7.62 krinks at some point in the future (http://www.arsenalinc.com/sam7sfk.htm). Though when they will actually be made is anyone's guess, since when Arsenal makes a "coming soon" post on their website, it could mean anywhere from next month to next year.

Eve given any thought to doing it yourself? THere's more than a few build parties in TX, get into one of them and build it yourself. You'll have some pride in it, and save a few hundred bucks in the process.

I would really enjoy building a Krinkov myself, however I have no gunsmithing tools and very limited gunsmithing knowledge. I would be very dependent on outside help. That said, how do you find these build parties? This is the only AK47 forum I know of. Also I'm rather new to this area. Any other advice you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

This isn't an AK forum. :)

This is an AK forum: http://www.akforum.net

This is an AK forum: http://www.akfiles.com

There are build parties listed in the above all the time, and I expect more will pop up as the weather cools . . .

Gunco.net is another good ak builder site.

The common locations are in dallas and houston. The parties are great for the novice because everyone has tools and advice available.

I've got a Yugo to do and another custom chop job. Itty bitty AKs are fun.

How do the 7.62 and/or 5.45 round act comming from a short barrel? I've had an itch for a short barrel with a wire stock in 5.45 but forget my ballistics.

The 7.62x39mm round suffers less in the way of loss of terminal effectiveness then the 5.56 or 5.45 rounds from an 8" barrel. The latter 2 lose about 300 FPS, where as the the 7.62 loses only about 200.
