Who collects police revolver trade-ins? Which ones are your favorites?
I'm partial to stainless S&W .38's and .357's, but honestly, I love them all. There's something about an old police revolver that just exudes character and history. The weight of it, the "honest" feel to it. You feel like you're holding the old tin-star badge of an old Western sheriff...
Or maybe its just me?

I'd love to find some, but they just don't seem to turn up around here. Everyone must have snatched them all up when the police were switching to autos and I was still a little-un.

I don't collect 'em, but I have a few hanging around.

One is a Smith M28 four inch .357, formerly used by the Pueblo, CO, Police Dept.
I found that out when I took off the grips.

Another is a Smith M38 .38 Special, an ex-Michigan State Police back-up gun. It has the alloy aluminum frame and a stainless cylinder. I was shooting it last night with 158 grain reloads. Ventilated some paper plates handily at nine feet.

Also have a Manurhin (Walther) PP pistol .32 ACP. It was a West German police gun.

There are quite a few turn-in revolvers available now. Southern Ohio Gun has Smith 681s, three-inch M36s, and some four-inch M10s.

J&G sales has a bunch of M10s. Some are three-inch and some are four.

Bachman Pawn and Guns and CDNN have two-inch M64s formerly of the California Corrections Dept.

Gander Mountain has some three-inch M36s that came from some PD.

If you want police turn-in revolvers they can still be found. Buy a Shotgun News and look through it.

Just got a police trade in Model 66-2 from Aim Surplus. Love it.

Its my only .357 mag. and has quickly become my preferred carry gun.

I like ex-cop revolvers because they have character and were dirt cheap when semi-autos were being adopted.

I have a pre-27 S&W that was a Utah Highway Patrol gun, and a 27-2 that was used by the Florida HP. I also have numerous .38 Specials from different cop shops, and my usual carry gun is a 659 from the Atlanta PD.

I also have a 1918 Luger stamped with Wolfsburg PD markings. Very cool.
