Okay, I'm ignorant. What does it take to be eligible to vote in a US presidential election? Do you have to be a US citizen? A resident? A resident alien (whatever that means)? I just don't know, and would appreciate some clarification.

Over 18, US citizen, non-felon (or had rights restored), i think that about covers it.

Unfortunatly having an intelligence greater than that of a walnut is NOT a qualification (see: "florida ellection debacle of 2000" AKA "I can't figure out how to punch a hole in this piece of paper so im gonna wing it then complain AFTERWARDS").

right, elections are state territory

here in texas:

-18 years old
-registered to vote (30 days prior to election)
-not a convicted felon (unless sentence has been served 100%, including probation and parole)
-resident of county for 30 days

The above are typical. In some states those with felony convictions can not vote (Florida). In most states they can after they are no longer under state supervision.

Of course that does not stop those that are dead, a dog, 10 years old, non-citizen or otherwise not allowed to vote from voting since most states do not really check to make sure that you are really elgible to vote.

Not in federal elections they arent. The rules for the federal elections are layed out in the constitution. The states can only decide what determines "residency" but, NOT any criteria to vote.

Come to Florida, vote early, vote often. ( Note, often only applies to citizens registered to vote in NY who have already voted there) Don't speak English?, no problem, se habla Espanol. Can't read?, no problem, our highly skilled workers( most of whom are Dems) will cheerfully assist you in making your choices, K-E-R-R-Y =Bush.

If you think the 2000 elections were a joke, you ain't seen nothing yet. Imagine trying to have a recount without a paper trail, and only the tallies of the touch screen voting machines to rely on. ( can you spell Hacker?

Not much, most of northern Mexico votes in our elections. They may have tightened up on it but, at least until recently, the DPS was doing that "Motor Voter" thing and they were pushing through registration for anyone with a license.

My job entails examining Drivers Licenses for ID purposes and I can tell you from 1st hand experience that there are 2.6 gigazillion Texas licenses in the possession of Mexicans that don't live here and there's more with the Mexicans that do.

Just go to any polling place and eyeball the Mexican tags in the parking lot. One of the major complaints in our elections is that they can't find Vicente's name on the ballot and, n'ombre, you know how much they dislike voting for gueros.
