Who is the best Black Rifle maker?

Me! What shall I build you?

I think the top shelf LMT lower assembly (#L7DA4) with a Larue Stealth upper would be very hard to beat. And about $1800. If all I have to do is push two pins, am I still building anything?

Kind of depends what your looking for.
Colt 6920, LMT, Larue, Knights Armament, BCM, for AR's.
FN has a couple cool bullpups.

I thought Larue was a parts maker i.e. Handguards, slings, iron sights, sight mounts, etc...

They make complete rifles?

Yes LaRue does indeed make both a complete upper and a stripped lower, you cant beat their quality. However they will only allow you to purchase one of their lowers if you already own or are purchasing an upper with the lower. This is a description of the upper from LaRuetactical.com

Both Upper and Lower receivers are CNC machined from billet aluminum.

Answering the demands of today's precision AR-Shooter, we designed the Stealth Sniper System with ¾" 100-yard shot groups in mind. Exceeding our expectations, the Stealth has earned a great reputation for it's sub-MOA accuracy, with reports of consistent hits on 4" plates out to 400 yards with 77 grain Mk262 ammunition.

And the lower quote...

Alright y'all, we've caved in to the onslaught of requests by all you LT-Stealth Upper owners who absolutely insist upon having a LaRue lower. At long last, here's your chance to build a complete LaRue rifle.

These stripped-lowers are CNC-machined from billet 7075 aluminum and are anodized deep-black to match our Stealth products. In an effort to provide only the finest hardware, each LT-branded lower was subject to stringent quality control processes, and test-fitted to Stealth uppers before shipping to insure fit and color match.

Both the complete upper and lower are made in the LaRue CNC shop in Leander, Texas USA

I will be placing my order for both after I get my income tax check back.
The irony has not escaped me... LMAO :neener:

Knight's Armament, Noveske and Larue

then the Mil-Spec group

LMT, Colt, ....... and the rest

Will not include Daniel Defense even i like them so much because we are on the same state of Georgia. But I just been into a Carbine class that has malfunctioning Daniel Defense. In that DD in my class, the bolt extractor has issues. You will not get those out of the box from the 5 AR makers that i listed above.

Gonna have to go with Bushmaster. Hands down the most accurate and problem free black gun I have ever had. I like to varmint hunt with them so my experience is limited to 20" heavy barreled versions.

Yea, I plan on getting battle flip up sights and handguards from YHM as they offer great stuff at a great value, not like the overpriced LaRue, Troy Ind, Daniel Defense, etc....

WILL NOT claim the best, my DPMS AP-4 has not failed me. I'll get blasted by the teir1 guys for this but I don't run thousands of rounds thru mine, wish I could afford to. Great rifle for the money.

I have run thousands of rounds through my DPMS carbine and haven't had it fail me. I have two other DPMS rifles with a much lower round counts - they too have been excellent. I'm not claiming they are the best either but good enoungh - yes!

IMO the White Oaks is great for CMP but they really don't build tactical rifles, do they? JP also builds nice rifles but my choices would be LMT Noveske and POF.

About DPMS...I am pretty new to the "Black" guns. My local dealer swears by the DPMS, but he sells them also. My brother just bought one, and I have been toying with the idea, but he hasn't gotten his yet for me to shoot. What are your opinions, on the strong, and the weak points of the DPMS. I just bought a Tommy gun the other day, so toying with the idea might actually be more like wishing...

The DPMS rifles are really good rifles. I categorize them as more of a target rifle than a fighting rifle though. Not that it cant do it, its just the fighting type rifles ie.. Colt 6920, BCM, Noveske, were made with reliability in first and accuracy second. Not that a DPMS is unreliable.

The DPMS rifles are known for their great accuracy. If I were building a long range AR-15 it would probably be a DPMS.
