heres a good question, who are we here really statisitically?

according to one search engine compiler that appears in google when you search for the website, you get the following information

average age: 30-45
averagy income: 43,000-60,000
typically white men

Members: 98,431, Active Members: 13,169

now with total member number, that would be a combined 4,232,533,000 to 5,905,860,000 yearly income
active members 566,267,000 to 791,760,000 in yearly income.

True those are just statistics generated by a website whose methodology i have issues with, but if those numbers are considered...

the members of this forum;

1. have more money in one year then the HUMANE SOCIETY has in its half billion slushfund
2. have enough money to pay off the national debt in 5 years without suffering undue financial hardship.
3. have enough money to build an ammunition/firearms company that would make what WE wanted to make, following all federal quidelines.
4. have enough to purchase a large tropical or subtropical island to create an independent nation
5. have enough money to buy lawyers to fight the good fight and support the US Constitution and bill of rights in the highest levels of government and gauruntee personal rights.
6. pay for one 4 year college degree at a community college if total members spent 3 cents on one person a year. the cost of 1 round of 22lr bulk ammo.

sure the income totals may beoff, i used the calculator application included with windows.

I honestly have no idea what your point is.

That said, you need to work on your math skills. The national debt is around 12.8 trillion dollars which means that it would take almost 2200 years to pay off using the 98K member and $60K salary numbers.

who is thehighroad?

13k of folks that love guns and support this forum.

We love gun related posts, and generally would just as soon leave non-gun statistics to the engineering forums.

So if we have ~100,000 active and non active members, and they all make an average salary of $51,500, then that would be a combined income of $5.15 billion each year, before taxes.

Seeing as the national debt (outstanding public debt) is around 12.87 trillion dollars right now, every member would have to give 100% of their income for about 2500 years to pay off the debt, assuming they didn't pay any taxes and the national debt didn't increase during those 2500 years.

Hmmm, why does that NOT sound like acceptable financial hardship to me? I must just be a rich evil businessman who doesn't want to help others :neener:

Did I give my income when I joined?
You might have, but we don't ask for it anywhere. Certain websites use various marketing information to try to estimate demographics. That's all it is.

I have always wondered what an active member is?
It can be configured in different ways, but I believe the default is either active within 30 days or having made 10 posts in the last 30 days. I don't have the keys to that section so I can't look at it.

I don't know about paying off the national debt...

But I'd be all for #3 on that list...just buy Remington and Marlin back from Cerebrus (The Freedom Group) and we'd be set.

I don't see where we can accurately determine skin color here either. The men part is somewhat understandable (for example talking about ones wife). but skin color? Not so much.

Perhaps he means the national debt of the hypothetical independent nation?

IMO we would probably owe it to China, which would rub many of the hardcore isolationists here the wrong way; barring that there would still be too much bickering about open carry and hi point pistols, and, doubtless, pretty soon blood would run in the streets! :uhoh:

Did you ever check the income box on a Black & Decker warranty, or some such thing.

Many companies sell all their profile information on a regular basis. Somewhere in the cosmos is one big database that combines all that purchased profile data. Data mining is a big business:eek:.

The color thing is still a mystery regardless.

Would anyone be in favor of THR firearms and accessories business?

We could definitely conjure up some good competition for the main manufacturers.

This info might interest you too.

I attended a gun show recently. Standing in the middle of the line waiting to get in I made this observation.

At least 95% of everyone in line was white and over 40 probably more of them over 50 and up.

This shocks me that more younger people aren't into guns for the obvious reasons. Once this over 40-50-60 generation is gone, it's all over. :what:

White, conservative, Christian, southern leanings , broke, old, gun poor, wife ugly, dogs old and ticky, kids gone for good, one 22 jams bad.

I don't know if I should laugh or cry.

Don't forget that gun show attendees are a narrow subculture within general firearms owners. In other words, lots of gun owners don't go to the shows for various reasons. As far as this being an indicator that gunshows will eventually burn out from disinterest, the 20-30 somethings not going to the shows might well be going to them by the time they hit our age (40-60 roughly).

assuming they didn't pay any taxes and the national debt didn't increase during those 2500 years.

And both of those will continue to increase until the nation implodes.

I don't see where we can accurately determine skin color here either.

For a specific member, I agree. Overall, I'm betting "typically white men" is accurate.

WASP, moderately liberal, Northern-born, Southern-bred, not rich, AARP, could always use more guns, beautiful wife, psychotic cat, half of kids gone... but I do have a SIG Mosquito.

I find it interesting that only 13% of the members are active. I wonder how that number compares to other forums in general. Then again, what really constitutes "active".

if you poke through the rolls, there aree thousands and thousands of member that were never active. THey joined, and never posted, or they only posted a few times, and left. I would say our ratio is pretty typical, if not very good for a forum of this size.

Leave it to google to make me feel like a misfit. Being a 23 year old minority with over 10 guns.
